A bird managed to shit at the top of my rear-left window and it has created a running stain that I can't see to remove.
I went at it with soap and the wash cloth, then tried some automotive glass cleaner and finally tried some windex ... nada ... stain is still there
Any suggestions?

If it's an actual stain the try the rubbing alcohol as suggested before otherwise try a razor blade and work it like you were removing a sticker or piece of tape ect. ??? Could work I guess??

Scotch brite pad and any light household cleaner should do it.
Hope it didn't get on your paint.

I've never seen glass stained from bird dung.
Bird crap is corosive to paint. Wax helps.
I refuse to visit a friend of mine now because the birds at her house like my car (and I'm not allowed to shoot them)

Gives new insight to Bird Flu.
I know it can be deadly to all life forms, and now I know it's corrosive to glass.
Wow, learn something new every day.

Try using some Bon Ami cleanser and a sponge. The wonderful thing about Bon Ami is that is does not scratch the glass or paint, because it has such a light grit to it. I use it to clean my windshield about every month or so, gets the built up road oils and crap off of it - keeps the streaking down.

Bug and tar remover is your best bet. Decal remover might work too

I tried the Bon Ami ... didn't clean it.
I used the back side of a key to try and scrap it off that didn't work either. I park my car in the building's parking garage I don't know how and when that bird found the time to shit on my car of all cars...
Gonna try the razor blade, alcohol maybe even a bit of gasoline.

This sounds like you need to use a scotchbrite pad to scrub off the stuff instead of going to solvents.

If it was 1 of the sliders I would recomend that you go get a used 1 at the wrecker at this point.
It might be time to run it past the detailers and ask them what they think.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys,
I was indeed bird doo-doo because I noticed it on the day I washed my car due to the fact it had doo-doo on the back window.
I washed it with a soft wash mit and it didn't come off (I thought maybe it was wash mit's fault) but as you can probably already tell its been one hell of a stubborn stain to remove.
I haven't done much about it yet I've been meaning to take a razor blade to it but haven't found the time, will let you know how I make out.

Ok I see what is going on. By any chance when you washed your truck did you use a soap with wax? If so the wax has created a protective coating as it would on the painted surfaces. Alcohol and alcohol based cleaners won't take it off. Try a wax remover something like a weak acetone mixture. I would stray away from abrasives. On a side note... A few years back on my way home from the Outer Banks, I parked on the ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke a bird pooped right in the middle of my hood i mean a HUGE pile. As soon as I could get to a car wash maybe an hour later, the paint had already cracked and started to peel. Hell if I let it go any longer it probably would have eaten my entire engine.

Dawn is supposed to be the best for it.
It is what they use on Autopia before they wax. And these guys are neurotc car finish buffs.

True, but one thing that is tested is that Dawn will not harm clear coats or finishes.
Some people think that Sunlight is a little too harsh for car cleaning.
Not arguing with you, they will do the same job. :)

I still haven't gotten around to doing anything about the stain, it has been raining here montreal for over a week.
I did come across this in the Mothers detailing guide:
"If the outside or your glass is marred with water spotting or minute scratching, Mothers Chrome Polish can help to erase the damage. Often, only the outer edge of the water spot will remain. Repeated applications of chrome polish may remove spots, but if not the glass is most likely etched and needs to be professionally polished"
I'm going to try this as a first step and if that doesn't work I'll try cleaning it with an SOS pad. I'll try and take a picture of the stain so you can see what I'm talking about.

I got the bird shit off with an SOS pad and some water but I ended up scratching the window is some in a harder to clear spot near the bottom.
Is there any way to remove these scratche or will I have to get the window professionally rebuffed?

what a shitty thread, but i have to put my two cents worth in anyways. the s.o.s. pad was a bad idea on glass. always best to exhaust all chemical options, short of acid, before resorting to mechanical removal. my favorites are "goof off" and good old zippo lighter fluid.
as far as removing the scratches, glass shops can buff them out, but it might be cheaper to get a window from your loco recycling yard.

Scotch brite pad I didn't try it went right the sos pad...
Looks like I'll have to get it buffed at an auto glass shop. I learned two lessons the hard way: (1) clean bird shit off your car asap and (2) don't use sos pads.
Is the auto glass shop really be more expensive than a pick-a-part yard?

Taking it to a glass shop is easier, and probably cheaper.
I knew someone that got a steel windw scraper (thinking that it was the best) and ended up scratching his windown up all winter long before he saw the damage, so avoid anything with steel in it on your glass.
But like I sugested try a glasses shop first, they might have some sort of DIY kit for a reasonable price
