i've already purchased a protein drink mix (Pro Trainer: Weight Gainer), along with some BMF Hardcore: Just Carbs. Right now I weigh in at 115lbs, i'm looking to gain 20-30lbs. Trying to gain some muscle for my job.
i'm new to using supplements, just wondering if anyone knew a safe/healthy routine of using these to my advantage.
i don't normally lift weights, just do push-ups, sit-ups, and cycling. i was told that push-ups aren't good for gaining mass, something about resistance being key..

what kind of work do you plan on doing? if its somewhere that you will lift heavy things regularly, and not have to get into small areas... more power to you to bulk. however, for instance me: i work as an auto mechanic. and tranmissions are heavy, motors are friggen heavy, and origonally i wanted to build muscle to... hold my own... im not a big guy. im 5' 7 135lbs but as time wore on i noticed some of the larger armed mechanics couldnt reach into the places i could. so instead i opted with the build as i go method. i dont lift weights. but my job keeps me active ( ever change a split rim? they arent bad but the tires alone weigh more then i do). and i do small workouts, nothing big, arm curls... run. not much beyond that. it would also help if you have a buddy to work out with. you may not feel like goin, i used to keep a friend company and ild end up sweating harder then he was (to piss him off ild lift 5 more lbs, or do 1 more rep). and now im still skinny. but im decently strong for what little i have, and that helps on that one bastard bolt on the back of the motor that wont go, and i need it out.

yea, i did some time at the gym a while ago, it was all strength related, not toning. i needed it to make my back stronger and prevent my back pain. im still fairly skinny. 145lb @ 5'10". but i have really skinny arms and wrists, so i have the advantage for reaching things that are hard to get. you'll get stronger as you do your daily work.
i'm going to start again at the gym in the summer.
do protein shakes really make that much difference?

Protein drinks do work. Just keep workin out cuz if you don't you'll get fat, plain and simple. Also, if you're tryna put on body mass, try drinking an Ensure with every meal. Why? Because to gain body mass you have to take in more calories than your body is typically used to burning off in daily activity. And for the skinny folks out there, our metabolism is higher than average so we burn off way more calories than others. Ensures are a meant to be a meal all their own, but if you take one with luch and dinner and have a consistent workout plan, you'll see results. but just like the protein shakes, don't stop workin out and drinkin em cuz you'll get fat. I'm 6'4 and used to be about 155 (although I was a lil shorter) now I'm about 190. Still skinny but a lot more muscle mass than I used to have.
