If you read on I am pretty sure I cover OBD2 programming.

Thanks FormulaLT1. I have performed all the steps and it will not program. Even went down and bought a new battery for the remote. It does all the steps, except nothing happens when you reach the lock/unlock pressing of buttons. And I have waited even well beyond 16 seconds. What are the odds of it not matching up due to it being from a '98 Bonneville?

You need to look at the serial number on the back of the remote. If it matches the keyless entry serial used on your old remote. Then it should work.

The Firebird did not come with the keyless remote. Is there any other way to match it? And what are the odds of finding one online that would work, or at least match? Thanks again.

Oh, if you didn't have keyless entry. Then you don't have the reciever brain to pick up the remote signal. You need to buy one of those to go with the remote.

It has the keyless entry system, but they did not have the remote to the car when I purchased the car.

I am sorry, I am all our of idea's. We have a few moderators and members that are GM techs. Hopefully one of them will pop there head in and knows something I don't. GMmerlin and Flatrater are a few moderators you can try to contact that are GM techs that may be able to point something out that I missed or something year specific about your car.
