Search the forums...and get a Haynes or a Chiltons. A shop manual is even better, if you can get a hold of one.

Anyway, you're first going to have to jack up the pass. side, take off the front tire and inner splash guard, then get a socket large enough to fit the balancer bolt. One trick to get it loose is to jack up both sides of the car, pull the plug wires, jam a sturdy pry bar on the socket (and set it against part of the frame that is sturdy, then crank the car over to spin the balancer and therefore breaking the bolt loose enough to remove w/ a ratchet.

From there, you may need a balancer puller (should be able to rent from autozone or similar).

Thank you Alibi We got the bolt off but not that way sounds easyer than the way we did it. Now the rub.The balancer puller the ones at auto zone don't fit this one has slots no bolts.

It will come off with a 6" three claw style puller you can get from most auto parts stores. You don't need to attach bolts or anything, just hand set the three claws around the back of the harmonic balancer with the center bolt close to the harmonic balancer bolt, then tighten the center bolt while kind of holding the three claws to make sure they don't fall off until there is enough tension to keep them on by themselves. It will come off pretty quickly after this.

However, you CAN use a traditional puller for this purpose and there ARE holes big enough for your puller and threads to go in (last I checked anyway). The puller that will work is here:

Still, it is cheaper to get the three arm kind and do it that way.

Huh? Slots no bolts? On the puller or the balancer? The puller will have slots for bolts to go through and thread into holes on the balancer.

A puller should work. looks like this, right? http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_SessionID=@@@@0312062883.1146965715@ @@@&BV_EngineID=ccchaddhjihfljmcegecegjdghldghf.0&vertical=SEARS&sid=I0033900180002100085&pid=00947626000
