4g63 cams fit 420a?

Hey all;
Just a quick question... I read on tuners that the 2.0 4g63t cams will fit the 420a 2.0 engine. Is this true? So I can use 4g63t cams with my car? Please clearify and verify :grinno:

I dont think so, but if someone did it on tuners, maybe I'm wrong. I've got some 1g turbo cams out of my 90 TSI AWD if you want. PM me.

I'm looking for some stage 1 cams. I can't find where it said that anymore. I'll keep looking though

no its dohc. What do you mean by stage 1?

They come in different stages. Stage 1 is like a street/race cam. Stage 2 was a full race cam, I think. Basically, stage 1 is great for power and street driving.

gotcha, on the 4g63 there isnt "stages" thats why I was wondering

Ahh. Basically, I'm just looking for something that will give me good performance, good idle, and good sound. Stage 1 seems the way I want to go.

I think "stages" apply more to a specific manufacturer than to any cam. I wouldn't go by stages, look at the specific specs of the cam. There's a great article in the tech articles part of tuners on choosing the right cams and how to get the most gains out of them, check it out David, it'll give you alot of insight.

Negative... I wouldnt believe everything you read on tuners! The 420a head its completely different. Different firing order, the cam gears are on the opposite side, and they just wont work. Thats all there is to it.
