My son has a 92 4x4 ranger with the 4.0 engine. He was driving and it just quit on him he blew the eec 30 amp fuse in the power distribution box (yellow wire) any Idea what would cause this? (and it cranks over fine)
Leading up to this the 4x4 never worked 3 weeks ago the bat went dead and he replaced it and could engage the 4x4 for the day and his blinkers don't work either, tomorow I shall go and check all the grounds and have already done a visual for bare/broken wires. Any other Ideas would be great.

I would see if Helminc.com lists a Ford "elect and vacuum troubleshooting" diagram book for your model. They usually costs less than $35 and will give you everything you need to chase down the elect problems.

Well here is a update on this fuse problem. I went out and bought a code reader to find it needs the eec fuse to work lol. I checked all the grounds I could see and did a visual of the wiring just one burnt on the manifold for the turn signals. We tryed a different pcm from the junkyard and a new eec relay. Seeing as the maxi fuses were getting expensive I put in a 30 amp circut breaker, disconected the battery with the key on and disconnected the harnesses one at a time if the fuse blows or gets hot disconect the battery reconnect the harness and try the next one it took 10 minutes to find it. I used the code reader and recieved codes 522 Vehicle not in park or neutral during koeo, 566 3/4 shift solenoid circut failure, 629 converter clutch solenoid circut failure or lock-up solenoid circut failure. I haven't checked these out yet why?
Well my son spliced some wire in for the burnt turn signal wire and we called it a day. The next morning I figured I'd go for coffee and head out back to check his signals truck started great and went to pull out hmmm steering feels stiff low fluid? it was ok going straight stiff turning the other way has to be fluid! Nope! Popping the hood I see the harness that he replaced the wire on unpluged and wound around the steering column that was day figuring out one pin pulled out just enough not make contact with the neutral start switch.
So does anyone know how to test these solenoids?
