Anyone ever actually seen a 67 Shelby Gt500 and not the one from gone in 60? Got any pics?

Ive seen a magnificent Metallic Blue 67 shelby in Darwin. But i dont know if the guy managed to get it fixed. he tried to overtake me on the inside, on a gravel road, on a sharp bend. (i dont know what he was thinking, he might have been in a hurry). but he hit a tree head on. he survived, not even a scratch, and wanted to do his best at fixing the car. i will try and trace down a few pics for you!

I seen one at a car show in Newark Ohio. It was Gray and black. It was owned by a rich guy who brought it in on an inclosed trailer. Wish I had some pics, Sorry.

I used to own both a 67 and a 69 GT350. I also have a friend here in my hometown that owns an Acupulco Blue 67 GT500 that he bought when he was in high school. He paid $1400 for it...of course, this was back in 1974. I'm a former State Rep for SAAC, so I've seen LOTS of Shelbys, Cobras, Panteras, and even a real GT40. Check out SAAC's website (www.saac.com), and check for a local event in your area if you want to see some real ones...:D

Here's a pic of my 67...if I can make it work...

They look sweet but wasn't the best car in its time

The original GT350 was a real Man's car, you'll never see a sissy driving one of these. :smoka: No power steering, no power brakes, no air conditioner, no radio, ultra harsh ride and no stupid cupholders!! To pop the clutch, you're pushing the peddal with all your strength, I love it, wish I had one :smoka:

My neighbor in Westport Washington had a 67' Shelby. Unfortunatly I was too young at the time to really appriciate it. All i remember was it was cherry red and one of the most beautiful machines I had ever seen. I remember her telling us that if her house ever caught on fire while she wasn't home that we were to break into the garage and get her car as far from the house as possable :D

Think about it, if you owned one, would you let anyone see it or touch it.

I would let people see it, but a few may touch it. I dont think I'll ever worry about owning one. Im not Mustang fan anyway.

Im sure it was probably a replica because they put it through a shredder...and its against the law to shred a real shelby mustang..or at least it should be!:flipa:

they had about 6 replicas that they used in there....all of them were autos that they used for some of the scences, there was one real one that was a manual that the director kept for himself...so there you go

also the replicas were only used for the screen shote, a real Shelby GT500 was used for the sound recordings. Nic Cage was acually driving the car but on the tough driving skills , a stunt driver was sat behind Nic Cage in the specially built Eleanor where he had a full set of controls in the back of the seat how wierd must that have been to drive!

Thats one of the moch ups, out of gone in 60 seconds. i have seen pics of it at the show and coming on and off the trailer. I read somewhere they used about 14 replicas, and 1 real one, which was the shitter at the end.

I have seen one original, a black one with white stripes on the Gold Coast in australia, at one of the Cobra Car Club meets. Also saw about 3 of them at a Mustang show in Brisbane.

actually i have seen one sat in one and driven it also, i know its not believable but i did, my boss owned one it was the accapulco blue with white stripes, it had 38,492 miles all original, he bought it from someone in texas like 10 yrs ago, god i loved that car, just listening to it was awesome, if i had a scanner i'd show the pictures i have, of the interior, the teak wood steering wheel, and the 428, and the ass end, and its a fine ass. the more original the better, thats why with my nova i'm keepin it pretty well stock. except the headers and the rest of the exhaust.

 Check out the Shelby Mustangs at CarMemories.com. You'll find a large number of pics of owners cars in the Shelby section. There is also lots of information on the cars.

Eleanor was not a real Shelby Mustang!

Owned two of them. First was a 1967 G.T. 500, Midnight blue, 428 dual quads, headers, 4 speed.
Brother came home on leave, blew up the 428. After I got out of the service, bought a 427 for it. Picked up one of the last Sidewinder intakes from Muscleparts.
Car is still in my brother's garage, last time I checked.
The other one, 1967 G.T. 500 (someone painted it British racing green) came with a 351 W for power. Put a built 351 C in it. Not to worry, I rolled that car one night, seems the 67 handles alitte different without a big block.

seen both the real thing and the replicas of the GT350, seen one real GT 500. I would rather had the GT350 w/ the factory supercharger than the 500 after seeing that car up close in a show.

The "mustang" from gone in 50 seconds was not anything close to a real shelby, it was a modified fastback with a shelby paint scheme and some body mods. However, it is now, after the movie came out, a real shelby. it's authorized by carol shelby and is running under the badges of a GT500E and a GT500SS, the E being a replica of Eleanor, and a performance version of Eleanor and the SS being a supercharged 427 called the Super Snake.

Classic Car.com article on the GT500E and GT500SS (http://www.classiccar.com/articles/carroll_shelby.asp)

the one they wrecked had to have been one
or it could have been like a random car with the exact bodykit.

Elanor is probably the most cloned car in the history of the world.

I found a pic of Carroll Shelby standing next to TWO of them, but can't find it today. sorry
