Needing some help with 92 Acura...

Well, ive decided I want to do up an acura... But I need some help / ideas on what to throw on it.

Keep in mind, im one of those people you probably all make fun of for knowing nothing about cars... My joining this forum is the attempt to learn.

Anyways, up here in Alberta we live in the chosen land of emmision free laws...

Im trying to figure out what kinda things i could / should to to the car. I dont want to spend a sick about of money on this project, as im not your local drug dealer with $80,000 to blow.

I DO however, want to race it a little bit. The cars in this city are pretty weak. I mean, there's an RX-7 that makes everyone its bitch... but other than that its just your average civic, where the owner definatly put more on the outside of his car than he did the inside.

I dont want to body kit this car... I dont want to have flashy lights... and i certainly dont want a huge "POWERED BY ACURA" sticker on it, although the current myth is that decals make your car go faster...

Well... obviously a regular acura isn't going to do what I want it to im thinking... Ive been told to take it in the ass, and just buy a 1992 gsr and start getting mod happy with it.

The 1992 model is the one im aiming at. Cheap insurance, good on gas. And the price definatly excites me, leaving much more money for upgrades / mods. But... What should I put on this car / do to it... and how much would it normally cost to have done?

Also, what the hell does a blow off valve do for ya?

Any help would be great!

oh, id also like to add... I would like to buy a 1992 ls or something and just throw the gsr engine into it... as i want to have the car a 4dr. will this be a problem? or should i be slapped for wanting a 4dr....

Someone mentioned an ls/vtec mod? Hows this done? Expensive?

If you get the 92 LS you will spank most civics stock. I have a 93 and it picked up a good bit with just intake and exhaust. start with i/e/h/ecu(intake/exhaust/headers/ecu). a lightly modded civic or accord shouldn't be a problem with just that.

yes insurance is a lot more affordable than the 3rd gen tegs. i pay 45 a month for my 92 ls which is extremely good compare to other guy's gsrs. i wouldn't reccomend changing a 2dr into a 4dr unless u have the money, thats gonna be really really expensive. oh the blow off valve is pointless unless u have a turbo, so im not gonna go into further details unless of course u still want to know its function.

since u live in a free emissions law state or where ever u are and want an ls, the best thing to do is go turbo. man california sucks!
