ok, I always hear of civics and crx's that get the ZC motor swap, but i never realy get to know what it is. I looked it up and found the swap for 699 bucks, engine and transmission but still dont get any specs.

can someone please tell em how much horsepower and torque it has, what displacement is it, what is its redline in stock form, do the newer ones have vtec now or still not?. also could i have rod/stroke ratios if you have rod/stroke ratios if you got them.

Thanks,

and what is the easiest car to get it to fit in.

Ok the zc engine is used in the 88-91 civics and crxs because of its cable tranny. It has about 130 horsepower and forget the torque. No vtec and its basically like a integra engine just less torque I believe.

so why do people like it?

wouldnt you just get the B16A sir1 for a little more and have 160 HP and vtec?????, that is a cable trranny too isnt it?

Because of the same reason you looked at it. Its cheap. A person could buy a crx hf for 800 buy the zc for 700 and then do a turbo to the car for a 1000 ( roughly) and have a fast car for under 3000 :D

The ZC first come out in the 3g Civic/CRX/Integra, and was last used in the 5g Civic.

Its simply a slightly differnt version of the D series engines, normaly with a DOHC head.
It will bolt up to any D series g/box, and since it has 130hp and about 108ft/lb of Torque it makes a very good swap in to a 3g or 4g Civic, and is a very cheap swap into a 5g or 6g (it just be any faster than a SOHC VTEC swap). (the 5g and 6g swap is of course NOT very common, and would require some rewiring to over come OBD issues.)

where do you find a turbo kit for 1000 bucks???

how much boost can you run on the stock internals?

so would this type of swap be worth?
if u don't have enough for a b16a?

Into your little USDM 91, then it would must deffintly be worth it.
The car will not be as fast a B16a powered Civic, but it will be noticable faster.
And I dont think there is a better bang for the buck swap out there for the 4g Civic/CRX.

The ZC is then quite and easy engine to tune, and will run well on stock internals with only 6psi. (which will also but in the same leauge as a B16a in terms of power). However its a good idea to replaces rings etc and do the bottom end on an older engine with and unknown history.

But if you really really want to go really really fast, then you might be better of simply saving for the B16a swap.

Lol 4000CDN? Thats hella cheap go for that!!!!!! The motorshop around here wants to charge me $5200 american dollars to swap a b16a into my car. I might go ZC turbo.. But I found another shop that would swap in a b16a so I am going to get their price quote. Lets see a fully rebuilt ZC ready for turbo would cost around $3500 after being swapped in and would make around 155hp and 115-120 torque. That is after redoing the whole bottom end and top end... New pistons, rods, new rings, resurfaced block, gaskets, ported and polished head with titanium valve retainers and springs, ported and polished throttle body, crower cams, 60mm throttle body, RC fuel injectors, high volume fuel rail and pump, spark ignition system with ractive wires and iridium spark plugs, DC polished stainless steel header, cheap cold air intake (why waste money on intake when im not going to use it after turb?), all new belts, and fluids, clutch assembly, conversion to 5 speed, integra axles, and oh yeah my tranny will have the LSD.... I plan to run 13-14psi for a daily driver... Wanna mess with that? But if the price is right on the b16a swap from the other shop i will build that up over 6 months and then turbo it.. NO1 wants to mess with that!
