In my 2000 grand am, my fan lets out a horrible smell, but when i turn on the a/c, everything is fine. I thought the smell would wear off if i left the fan on, but it stayed. It is only about 85 degrees out where i park it, so it is not the heat. What should I do?

can you describe the smell? This may help with finding what is wrong.

In the meantime, you could give the interior a hefty shot of Ozium odor eliminator; thast stuff works excellent. I bought it at WalMart in the automotive stuff aisle. It's a aerosol spray and comes in a tall, thin box. I like the "new car smell" scent.
Believe me, if Ozium does not eliminate it, nothing will. 'Cause that stuff works great.
By any chance, did a mouse or some small animal die somewhere around your heater ductwork??? Hope you track it down; good luck.

A few days ago I was driving to work and started smelling an awful smell. I thought for sure a mouse had crawled in the car and died somewhere. Didnt think much of it. I was just gonna leave the windows down and try to air it out. Then just as I was almost to work I noticed it had a slight "sweet" smell to it and I knew I was screwed! Sure nuff when I got to work I looked under the car and I had a coolant leak. My heater core went out. Anti freeze can have a aweful smell to it if it hasnt been changed for a while. ( I'm guilty as charged.)
Watch for any leaks. And watch your coolant level!
GOODLUCK!
