My '02 C240 wont' start and I can't move the transmission/gear either. It is stuck in neutral. Any idea what causing this and how I can fix it? Is there some disabling mechanism on the car that I might have activated? I'm thinking it is an electrical problem but don't know how to resolve it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

This shit happens when the sensor sensed you've some lugs not screwed correctly. Example would be using the original lugs on spare tire.

Check that.

Most likely the gear shifter assembly has crapped out on you, common problem. Also the EIS (electronic ignition switch) could be defective. You can not repair these items yourself, they require programming by your MB retailer.

My aunt had this same problem on Thursday night, come to find it on her 99 C 230 kompressor with 70,000 miles on it and 30,000 left on the extended warranty the transmission needs replacing. It's a $6,000 job, and Mercedes is provding only a factory rebult transmission, yet, they won't extened the warranty at all.

This care has had its a/c repalced twice as well, and a bunch of other things on it, thank god for the warrantry.
