Passengers window moves about 1/4 inch in down position then stops.
After removing door panel I notice there is a plastic belt with holes in it
coming from the motor. It is not looped around anything.
When I press switch there is a faint sound from motor then it stops.
What do you think ? Thanks La Sabre Custom 4-Door

"It is not looped around anything."

Nothing at all? Then it may have just slipped off...

That era of cars are notorius for having weak window motors. If they have lasted this long, 17 years, and are stock, then they are almost definately shot, even is that part just slipped off. You may be able to try to grease up the components to free it up a bit if you get it back to gether...but you probably need to replace the motor. Check Ebay, they're fairly cheap. Just need to drill out (I think) 3 rivets and then use 3 small bolts when installing.

Anyone have a diagram of the window motor and how it is attached to the
sliders? Belt fell off. Tough to see through the sheet metal.

Your best bet would be to get a chilton's or a Haynes manual...you'll need it sooner or later anyway. I believe my chilton's shows and exploded view of how the window motor is mounted.

There might be a diagram at autozone.com too. I sometimes get lucky and get information there that wasn't in my Chiltons.

If you really want a good manual, check ebay for an actual GM shop manual.

I went to the junkyard and cut it out.
Looks like I got all the parts I need so far. Nice donar car.

The problem with junkyard motors are that they may be just as worn as the one you are about to replace, unless it is an obvious new part.
