almost 16 years old and ready to get my license when i found out i had to pay for my own car, got a job and have only been able to save up $1500. as of right now im not sure if i should wait till i save up more money or buy a car with what i have and continue to improve on it as the money comes... money is obviously tight so im going to need something good on gas, u could say i like to drive fast, but i realize with only $1500 im not going to be getting the quickest of cars. i was thinking of a little honda crx cause i know there good on gas and hondas run for ever so i wont have to worry about money going into repairs instead going into upgrades, please help me out and give any advice you have...

If it was 20 years ago, I'd say you have enough. But today, you'll need more $$ before you buy. Remember that in addition to the cost of the vehicle itself, you'll have to pay taxes and insurance at the least. Then, with a low cost vehicle, you will likely have repair bills at regular intervals.

Although you want to get that car right away, a bit of patience while you make sure you have enough money, rather than scraping and having your car up on wheelstands while you wait for the money to fix it, will make your first car much more enjoyable

For that price you may be able to get a 95-97 Cavalier Z24 or Sunfire GT with high mileage. I think that would be the best car you could get for that price considering performance and reliability.
