Wahey major praise from the P/man himself!!:D
Seriously though thanks for the positive comments guys.
Hopefully the corolla wrc will be finished by next weekend so if it is
you can expect some piccies of that!!
Then it's time to build the Honda S-MX thing that i bought for £1.50,
still not sure what to do to it though!

Del-R the decals were o.k but i did manage to tear one slightly at the front where the front suspension arms go in the body but i managed to save it with a smidge of blue paint.

Digging up an old thread I know... but...

Has anyone every tried painting the blue areas on this kit???

Would it be correct to say that if the blue decals were applied, and a clear coat sprayed over the top, that with a little cutting compound a very deep shiney look could be achieved?

Cheers for the tips folks.

I painted the blue, yellow and white on this one and cleared over all the decals too. It is possible to get a smooth clear gloss over decals, in my opinion it's best to put a couple of coats of clear on then sand it with fine grit, then a couple more coats before rubbing.

Hey Veyron,

Did the red lines around the edges of the blue come in separate decals??? And that's a 1/12 kit correct?

The blue decals in the 1/20 kit I have actually have the red line attached to them in the same decal. So it's going to be murder trying to cut them away if I spray on the blue. And I don't want to even contemplate spraying the thin red lines!

Not quite sure what I'll do yet - any suggestions?

Killer FW14 there Veyron, that's the Hasegawa 1/24th kit isn't it?

All this F1 kit activity is a nice change around here!

It's the Hasegawa 1/24 kit. I don't remember blue decals being supplied in this kit, I built it in 1994 so memory is a little fuzzy on it. In the case of the FW13 and the 1/12 FW14 I would definitely trim the little stripe from the blue decals and paint the blue on, it isn't as hard as it sounds.

Use the blue decals as a template to mark your painting lines for the blue and don't trim those edge stripes off until your sure you've got the blue painted on to your satisfaction.

I'm working on an FW13B at the moment. I'm painting the blue parts, and will cut the white/red line from the decals. These pictures are all I have at the moment. (Since I'm a very slow builder, it can take a while before I have any progress on the paint job)

It doesnt look like the 1/12 kit. Mine has the nose extended onto the white stripe on the front wing, and doesnt look so blunt.
