91 Lumina engine swap?

I have a 91 Lumina euro with a bad 3.1 motor and trans, I also have a 88 Cutlass Supreme with a rebuilt motor and trans. Is it possible to put the 2.8 motor and trans into the Lumina? If so what kind of problems can I expect to run into? Thanks.

Well you have to look into all the things that are different about the drivetrain. Like if the cutty has the 3 speed and your lumina has the 4t60, etc. There is actually alot to look into.

Best way to find info on that is from an auto salvage yard. They have the crossover books and will be able to tell you for sure.

IF the transmissions are the same, it's a staight up swap. The only difference between the 88 2.8 and the 91 3.1 is the bore/stroke change that resulted in the increased displacement. Externally, they are identical.

i'd honestly just stick and try to find another 3.1, the 2.8 in your lumina would be dog slow, but as far as reliability its good
