i saw this on ebay, and i emailed the guy and he says, you can see straight through it. i dont know what a highflow cat, such as catco's is supposed to look like. so is this auction for a real highflow cat, or just a fancy testpipe

high flow cats are real cats, and legal, jsut allowing more exhaust air through than stock. test pipes are illegal for street use, but since do not have any restriction, obviously allow more air through than any cat. I would ONLY buy this if you plan on racing your car on a track, other than street, if you want street performance, go with the high flow cat.

oh, btw that looks like a cat, test pipes look like pipes. 50 bucks is pretty cheap.

thats what i thought too, but isnt a cat "converter" supposed to change the gases or something like that?? if its just a straight through piece, how does it do that?

what does normal "high flow" cats look like?

That one looks similar to the one we put on my car. as far as I know, that's what they are "supposed" to look like. :apuke: (sorry, I liked this smiley)

 20 hp, mmhmmm...ask that guy for a dyno chart. My personal opinion is...hmm well, I don't really have one. It's up to you man, it LOOKS like a normal high-flow cat to me. The second looks like a pipe obviously. I think there is a guy on ebay that sells "V-8" high flow cats like the one I have.

This is kinda like the one I have, though mine is 2.25/2.25 where as this one is 2.5/2.5. I think the one you are asking about is an OBX, so again its up to you.

i saw that one too, but its for 5th gens, so i would probably have to modify it if i wanted it to fit, and im too lazy for that. i want a direct fit. anyways, i noticed you had a cherry glasspack. someone else was talking about they got one to make the muffler sound better. im planning on a hf cat, and headers sometime soon, and i dont want my car sounding like shit. i wanna keep the deep sound i have now. where exactly do you put it? and im assuming it has to be custom welded into its spot??

also where can i get one of those glasspacks like you have?

is it anything similar to this, or are they just universal?

Do you have a custom exhaust setup? A cat-back system? The cat I gave you the link for will fit on a 2.5 in diameter system. It's fit is dependant on the diameter of your pipe, not the type of car you have. The glasspack on mine was a replacement for the resonator, to quiet it a little before coming out of the back. you can pick one up at autozone or pepboys for pretty cheap. they are welded on in the middle pipe or pretty much anywhere they will fit after the cat.

not really custom, but ive replaced the 2.25" stock piping because when i got the muffler installed the pipe between the cat and the stock muffler was old and rusted.

what would adding headers and a highflow cat do to the sound? other than making it, im assuming, louder. have you had experience with sound pitch changing?

You had 2.25" stock? wierd.. my stock pipe was about 1.5". Sound-wise I'm not too sure, since I put all my ehaust stuff on @ the same time, so it was a drastic difference. I don't think the cat would make much difference. Headers I guess make it louder since they suck air out faster.

oops, youre right. i think mine is 1.5" also. i got confused, i was just assuming since the muffler opening was 2.5". but i didnt pay attention that they used a small piece between the pipe and the muffler.
