Wobbling Wheel...

Okay so heres whats going on. I just threw my 18's on that I had in storage for over the winter in my bedroom. I checked the air pressure and what not and made sure everything was good. When I get to about 70 theres a pretty good wobble. Enough to make me wanna slow down to about 63 when it pretty much subdues. I just figured that the front 2 maybe needed to be balanced so I got that done this last weekend. The left front needed 1/2 ounce and the right front needed 1/4 ounce. Now the car is still doing the same thing after all of that. Just wondering what you guys think?
The wobble also seems to get worse when I slow down for a second as well.

Have you double checked all of your lugnuts? I've had alot of rims loosen up on me even after they were torqued when they were put on. Never hurts to double check, I check the torques every night for the first week after changing them, can't be too safe.

Did you have the back one balanced at the same time? You will actually feel the back ones before the front. There's nothing inside the rims to throw them out of balance right? If you didn't have the rear ones balanced try swapping the fronts & rears see if that helps things, its a cheap try. Sounds like its something with the rims & tires, to verify this try putting your winter tires & rims back on to make sure the vibration goes away.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have checked all the lugnuts. I do this as well every evening for a week or so after putting on the rims. No, I haven't had the back two balanced yet as it seemed to me that it was the front where the wobble was occuring. No, there is nothing on the inside of the rims. I will try to switch them front to back I guess like you said first and see if that helps and then I'll also try the stock rims when I get back home.

Again, thanks for you reply. I remember hearing something about the wobbling could be caused from a wheel bearing. I thought that if one of those starts to go its more of a grinding noise or feel and not so much of a wobble. I'm bringing this up because its the stock wheel bearings and mine has a little over 75000 on it right now.

If the problem started when you put the other set of rims on it only makes sense that it has something to do with the rims. When a wheel bearing goes it out will start to grind and the pitch of the noise will change as you turn. doesn't sound like a wheel bearing, check the basics, rotors all the way on, pilot diameter of 18" rims fits snug on the hub with no slop around the lugnuts, ect .... you know maybe the wheel isn't centered on the hub, making it not be true with the axle or hub. Based on what you've told me your on the right track with it being the tire wheel combo.

My car acted real funny driving down the road with only the rear windows open (at highway speed), felt like I had a flat, rolled up the rear windows and it was all good again, thats why I say it could be a rear tire, that and having driven a car with low rear tires before (its a real handful, all over the road).
