I am in need of a computer for a 91 stealth and am having no luck. Does anyone know where I could possibly find one or has one for sale? Also, what other models and years would have the same computer as this one?

www.3si.org for sale section

A 91 or 92 3000gt or stealth one should work, possibly even 93s, but I'm not 100% sure. But you have got to make sure that it is from the same type of car (ie, SOHC, DOHC, or DOHC TT). They all have a model number printed on the ecu, just make sure they match, and you'll be good.

But before you waste money, what makes you think you need a new ECU?

I live about 80 miles north of Kansas City, Missouri. I figured the 3kgt would probably work, but I was also thinking possibly the same year Eclipse or something of that sort, since they seem to be a little easier to find around here?

I am not 100% sure that the ECU is my problem, although its on the top of my list right now. I have traced it down to one of these things: the distributor, a module that relays between the dist. and the computer, or the computer itself. The only reason that I am thinking the ECU is because of a fault of WalMart. Since battery installation is free, i figured I would just have them do it for me when I bought the battery. I had problems with the car dying due to some electrical short soon after but I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. The car finally will not start at all, first it didn't have fuel pressure, and after replacing the pump it does but our problem now is that we aren't getting any injector pulse and low voltage to the ECU.

Back to the battery, I was looking just the other day and noticed where the underside of my hood had actually been melted. Come to find out they didn't take the tray off the battery so it was sitting too high, rubbing against the hood which i'm sure is where the shorting out was coming from. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, because I am completely stumped?

i think you've learned never to take your car back to Walmart.

are you throwing a Check Engine Light?

so basically your car won't start. you've replaced the fuel pump. got a new battery. did you check your alternator? AutoZone and other chain auto parts stores will usually test your battery, alternator, starter for free. jsut remove the part, take it to them, have em test it. if i were you, i'd have em check the battery too, b/c you know walmart...

and since you've noticed that the battery was too high, i assume you lowered it to its appropriate level. have you noticed anything after that?

ouch, yea, if the battery was shorted out it could be a number of things. First i would check to see if the battery is still good. If it is, then it is very possible that it fried the ECU. This is why its important to disconnect the battery when working on certain parts of the car because you could end up frying your ECU if your not careful. Good luck with the hunt. If it turns out to be the ECU, then any 91-93 ECU will work, or a 94-95 ecu from a federal spec car will work. If you end up with a 94-95 fed spec ecu, you might just end up stumping the hell out of the dealership if they ever try to do a diagnostics test
