where is the tranny dipstick

i have a 1997 LS teg and this is the 1st time i could not find a tranny dipstick. I might sound stupid but i cannot find it for the life of me. I found 3 drain plugs but no dipstick. i checked my Chilton manual and its does not say. And another question i have is that, do these trannies take motor oil or tranny oil.

I thought you had a standard? only automatics have dipsticks.

one of those drain plugs (prolly the closest one to the top of the tranny) is a fluid level check hole. take out the bolt and stick your finger in and the fluid should be very near the bottom of the hole when at the right level. as for what kinda fluid to use, i always just use 80w90 gear oil, just add the oil until it starts to trickle out the hole, if its low.

gear oil is way too thick for an integra tranny. You should use 10w30 motor oil NO SYNTHETIC. 10w30 is what is recomended in every repair maual I've seen and I believe even the owners manual.

Definatly true. I actually went to honda and bought their special manual transmission fluid. It "looked" and felt just like normal oil (10w30 weight). The books I've read say to use the honda stuff or 10w30 non-synthetic like knorwj said.
