2002 Duretic PVC Question

Hi Folks,
Went to Advanced and AutoZone yesterday for a new pvc valve for my 2002 24 valve engine. I was told by Advanced the FlexFuel pcv valve was the same as the other engines???
Went to AutoZone and they said it is a Dealer item only.
I looked at my engine and from the air intake (behind the air filter housing), there is a metl tub with rubber flex fittings going from this air intake to the valve cover. I pulled the valve cover end off and there was no pcv valve?? Dose this engine have a pcv valve and if so, where is it located on this Duretic engine??
Thanks for any help with my basic question folks !!

According to the 2002 Taurus service manual, your 24V Duratec engine does have a PCV valve, but it doesn't appear easy to get to. If you private message me with an e-mail address for you that can accept PDF attachments, I can send you the procedure with diagrams. It doesn't sound like you're too far off.

I have a 2000 Duratec and I have never seen my PCV valve.
From what I have read the way to get to it is to remove the upper intake manifold.

We have tried in vain to replace the PCV on our 2004 Duratech :(
Removed the intake, removed the fuel rail, looked everywhere but none is in sight :(
We've seen pictures of where they are "supposed" to be on a 2001 Duratech, but for some reason they must have changed it for the 2004 production year because we can't find it anywhere :shakehead
Guess Ford doesn't want people to take care of their cars...

We just spoke to a Ford mechanic and he tells us that in 2004 Ford stopped using the PCV in the Duratech engine. I find this hard to believe. Can anyone positively verify this one way or the other?

I cannot verify this for the Taurus, but Ford does not use a PCV valve with the V8 Lincoln LS. I doubted it too when I heard it, so I searched the engine compartment and the service manual. I didn't find one in my engine compartment, and there was no mention in the service manual. My wife's LS V-6 does have one though, and it is listed in the service manual for the V6.

Thanks Rod. What's confusing is that Fram and Motorcraft both sell a PCV for the 2004 Taurus Duratech :frown:
If anyone with a service manual can verify one way or the other PLEASE do. Thank you.

No surprise that they would list something that isn't available.
A lot of places list rear disc brake parts for a 2000 and up Taurus even though Ford stopped putting them on in 99

My service manual for the 2002 model year shows the Taurus with an option of rear drum or disc brakes.
I could understand discontinuing rear drum brakes, but not rear disc brakes.

This has been covered numerours times. The wagon still rear disc brakes but the sedan was discontinued after 1999.
didnt mean to get off topic but the pont was Parts stores have wrong listings all the time.
Another mistake by parts stores concerns the front disc brakes.
Ford put bigger front brakes on the Taurus in 2001.
The Rotor is bigger ,different pads and a different caliper bracket.
They all show the older caliper bracket even for 2001 and up

Can you send us the diagram showing the location of the PCV valve for the 2002 Taurus? We have the Haynes manual, but it is useless in actually locating the PCV Valve. E-mail is [email protected]
thanks!

Don't know if they changed it in o2 but I just did my 2000 due to it throwing lean codes.
There is a hose that is connected on the underside of the intake that runs down under the intake
I had ot pull the upper intake
The fuel rail and then the wiring harness that is under the fuel rail
It is mounted in a box looking thing there.
You have to twist it counterclockwise to get it out
