94 Cutlass Ciera 3.1 stall/ sputtering

Hi guys,
I have a 94 Cutlass Ciera 3.1. Over the past few weeks the check engine light would come on after running the car for 45 mins or so. So I went to my local mechanic one day after the light came on and had it scanned. He said it was the MAF and IAC that were producing the codes, and that I needed to replace them. On the way home the problems began to occur. I was driving along and the car began to act like it was going to stall, then the engine corrected it self and gave the car more gas, it did this three or four times in a row, then acted normal for a brief while, then did it again. When I came to a stop the car completely stalled out. It started back up again just fine, and continued with this stall/ sputter pattern. So I replaced the MAF sensor and the IAC valve like the mechanic suggested, however the problem is still occuring, and the check engine light still comes on. I'm thinking about driving it back down to the mechanic and see what he says now, but I'm not sure it will make it all the way. I read some other threads which had similar problems and someone suggested the TPS, fuel pump, or crank position sensor. Should I check these things? Any help would be much appreciated. I am not really sure where to start.:frown: Thank you in advance.

i have no clue what the barrage of abbreviations were but i know a fuel pump or fuel filter would cause such a problem, possibly even an air filter but it would have to be insanely dirty...

hello
the symptoms you are experiencing sound very familiar to ones i had when i had fuel pump failure(s) with my caprice classic

I know its late, but I didn't see any closure to this message and wanted to give my two cents. I have a 94 Cutlass Ciera S 3.1L and I have various components modified with aftermarket parts, but what you described is PRECISELY what my problem was and it was definitely, completely, the fuel pump. The fuel pump's operation had become intermittent and had to be replaced.
