well ive been coming more and more into cars lately and ive really wanted a 3000gt for a while now... ive seen this guy with a really nice red one with a nice exhaust and it is fast... ive asked him about the car and stuff and have seen him around once in a while cruising around while i was...
so i see him after i get off work pulling out of a blockbuster(oddly i always see him there of all places) is was like 11:30 so i hurry up turn around and catch him.. well at a light he launches along with like 3 other cars and a bike at the light.... i follow he sees me at the next light and remembers me.... so he says you coming? and im like "sure" and follow
i have no idea where were going but after crusing for like 10 minutes and speeding up and down with some other cars we go off to the right and go to a neighborhood i dont really know.... so we get to this one way street and it seems wow perfect for street racing... so then this Alero (sp?) that has been with us pulls up and the guy in the 3k tell me to pull up next to him
so im likke ok wow im about to race.. i was so nervous and shaking.. he says third honk go... so i wait honk honk honk bam
i have no idea wat so everrrrrr how to launch my 94 chrysler lebaron convertible gtc .... so i (somewat neutral drop ((here comes some flaming))) i just take off .. or well try and he gets a small jump on me i creep a little and then stay .... hes got like a car or so on me .. and we let off.... so he turns around and we do it again this time the guy in the 3k gets out and does an armdrop ... so he signals ready to us both and once again i have no idea how to f'en launch but again he gets a good jump but same result or so but i am only like a lil less then a car length like 3/4th's we cut off at like 75 both times so im pretty excited but nervous as hellllll.... we turn around again and i wait for the 3k to pull next to me ... i say i got to go bc i have work at 6am and he says wuss and im like ya and i only have a little bit of gas left and he goes ooo alrite thats cool... and i said yup thanks alot and ill see you around... he goes yup peace and i leave. then go home pretty freakin excited i cant wait til i get a 3000 i am soooooo close i have been saving like crazy and it wont be long... hopefully...
sorry so long btw please tell me how to launch .. i have P R N D 3 L obviously an automatic.. i dint know much about the otehr car except it was a newer Alero SP?! but thanks....also would i have done better from a roll? or what do u think thanks alot guys

Nice runs. And yes it is spelled Alero. Please dont do neutral drops. It makes me sad when I hear about people who do that. If you want a somewhat better launch I would reccomend holding in the brake (not e-brake) and step on the gas at about 3/4 throttle. Only do this if you are going to race though. That way you will be somewhat revved up and you wont have any lag time between the engine and transmission.

yeah i think thats called brake torquing, or at least thats what i've heard it being called, anyway isn't the alero the counterpart to the grand am? doesn't seem like much of a threat to a 3kgt..

You'd be surprised. I drove my friends 160HP Stealth and it was pure crap as far as accelerate goes. I do like the interior a lot though.

i didnt really "nuetral drop" i was dum and dint revv at all before.. i just had it in neutral and dropped to a lower gear fuck i think i put it all the way down in L gear?! i dont even kno what that gear is for... what gear should i be braking and hold the gas a little with? D 3 L it was pretttty funn stuff i wiish i wouldnt have been a wuss and left after 2 races but i figured id better go before A... cops B ... brake my car ... or C something else plus it was a lil past midnight and i do have to work early ... but i lied about the gas i had a lot left.... damm
ooo and i was looking at aleros online and one has like 140 which is dead even with my car except mine has 171torque and that has like 150t but theres a 170 hp one too which is what i think he had in manual and was just either not that good or was and i was that close... or he has the 140 and my takeoff was killing me

I've heard of people race Alero's with their 3000 and they smoke em. In fact one guy in the 3S section raced one on a highway and was pulling on him around a curve and the Alero just couldn't hold up and ended up crashing.
Oh, and the guy that raced the Alero was in the DOHC.

Obviously. I was just making sure to clarify that the DOHC's could out run an Alero with ease for those who don't know much about the 3S. The SOHC's may be close.

I raced my freind's 3.4 (170hp) alero in my dohc stealth from 40 (bad spot for auto stealth in 2nd gear) and we were both auto's. I let him go first and when he punched it i did too. I was next to him at 50 then when i stopped at 70 i was 2-3 cars ahead and i was on a very slight curve.

There isnt going to be a big enough difference to notice. However I would say "theoretically" it would be ever so slightly quicker with the top up. When down the wind is going to rush downward after the winshield and you'd have more drag on the back end. But like I said, you would never know any noticable difference.

o and for launching, all you do is hold the brake down all they way, you can floor it all the way, it souldn't go past 3k since the tq converter wont let you unless its messed up, turn the over drive off, and put it into 'L'. put the car in L at a stop, floor it and see if it switched gears or not. if it does keep it in L until it switches gears 1st b4 u move it, or if u just hear your car tryin to go faster but it wount, then u have to move it into '3'. if u have a tach in the car, when its going to hit the rev limiter, put it into '3', then D. you im sure will bearly get outta 2 b4 u call it quits at about 70mph or so

I would suggest going easy on that tranny. The A-604 is not known for its durability, quite the opposite actually.
