so ive been working for a while and ive been saving like all my money and my rex needs struts. I decided i want to upgrade the car slowly - as the stock parts begin to go i will replace them with premium parts - so i go on ebay and find a good seller (99% positive feedback). There are alot of struts to choose from so i pick some tokico hp's which were going a little less then the others since they were just bought and resold at a minimum bid. I win the auction and get them all bundled in a package of four wrapped up. I bring them in my house and leave them shut, and wait a while, so i could work and get some money for someone to put them on for me. Well today i decide to open them, and vwala (however you spell that), a strut is missing so i have the rear and one front. I knew it wasnt the seller because he was not shady at all, the feedback was good, and he left a phone number if any problems happened. so i call him just to make sure he packeged them all, and he said he did, i believe him because, who would steal one strut he thinks it fell out during packaging, but i dont understand how the post office could manage that. I just dont hear about stuff like this happening to other people, i need some support here........does anyone have a similar stupid situation like this, i doubt it, but i think i get screwed the most, how does a strut get lost. Any similar stories, and does anyone know a place or site that would sell a single strut or is this unheard of (which it prolly is)...any other theories of wat may have happend to the strut?....i still cant believe it......now im stuck with three struts which i cant put on until i find another one of the exact type or sell the one front one and buy some even better front struts which i am seriously considering wat do you think........peace out

Are there any rips in the box? Was the tape around the opening broken at all, or was the box completely sealed when you got it?

This site sell single ones: http://www.sportcompactonly.com/product.aspx?p=2367&l=1&c=171&pg=2 Shop around though, someone might have it for cheaper.

I have seen sets with only 3 in them..but they were actually sold as 3 and labeled that way, for whetever reason...perhaps the donor car was crashed or something, so they only sell three..I have never once gotten something from ebay that was exactly what I ordered...I hate that damn site, but it is a necessity sometimes...

I was doing a cam swap with someone off AF. When he sent the cams to me, one had punched right out through the corner, and was never to be found. In fact, I didnt even notice the box corner was torn, until I looked it over after opening it.

I get stuff from www.performancepartsstore.com they seem to have decent prices as well.

yeah i have some knowledge about this... not to say this is what happened but i have a buddy that works for a major shipping company and they will intentionally break packages open if they know what is in it( they use to have a problem with drugs going missing). I am sorry and feel for you man

those are garbage shocks anyway.
Here's my opinion...never settle for anything but the best. Don't just buy shocks and springs to lower your car and look cool. Do it for the performance gain. So, instead of buying cheap shocks like tokico HP's...save a little more and buy the best. This way, you only have to buy everything once, and not keep upgrading.
It takes me longer to build my car than other people, because I save, buy the best, then save again to buy the next thing.
Save your money for Koni yellow Sports.

thanks civicspoon for posting that site up, im prolly gonna use it........how are the tokico hps cheap struts (bambalx89)?..........yes there are better ones like the illuminas, and koni but that doesnt mean the ones i bought were cheap and wat the hell am i gonna be going over to need those other ones. I just needed some good solid struts so i could get better road feel, without spending a fortune....thats it, no i wasnt gonna drop it to look cool :nono: .......rather for better performance and i dont want to drop it more than 1.25" since it may bottom out. i could care less wat other people see when they look at my crx...no i dont have a wing or ridiculous rims on it, rather i have the gsr blades and it is all stock...... im more interested in the engine than anything else so im not going to go overboard about the struts.....

think of it this way....

if you plan on building the car to race it or autocross it, then you want stiff shocks and springs. Stiffer = better for launching/cornering.
Those tokico HP's are just garbage, trust me. If you just want a replacement shock to replace your old tired stock shocks, then that's all they'll do. But, don't expect them to last long, or give you any real performance gains.

alright im actually considering on some used koni yellow sports......haha..... but i still need some more information on them. Y are they so much better? They have about 8000 miles on them, so how much should i offer, since theyre still perfectly working. Would i be able to tell the ride quality apart from the tokico? Are they that much better, i would like to here a reply from bambamlx89 since hes been talking me into this.....haha

i had tokico blue struts and tenzo coil overs on my 91 crx si and it was an awsome set up. i did very well with autocrossing and got 3rd overall for the season. I did not even properly lower the car. I just eye balled the drop. I had the older falken azenis sport tires on 99 si rims. My car handled like it was on rails. I beat every other crx on the course( not by alot but i will take it).I don't know what you are talking about as far as saying they are trash. I am currently trying to get some tokico blue struts and eibach pro springs for my current 91 rex. either i was very lucky or you had a defective product.

Koni yellow's are by far the best out there. They can handle ANY spring rate springs. Try putting 1400 lb springs on those tokico's. They won't handle it for more than 10 minutes before the shocks blow. Not to mention, you can get custom valving in the Koni yellow's! You want heavier spring rates in your car. The heavier the spring rates, the better cornering, stability, launching, they are all improved. A good spring rate for the streets is 400 FR, 450 R. You should research on spring rates and how they affect your cars handling characteristics before you buy any setup. Educate yourself. Don't just by springs to lower your car, but actually know exactly what they do for you and how. That will give you a better understanding of what to buy.

When you buy springs for your car, the spring rates are just a one size fits all spring rate. People don't understand, you want different spring rates for daily driving, for autocrossing, for dragging, etc. Not just some off the shelf spring that it's main purpose is to lower the car. Lowering the car isn't the real performance gain of aftermarket shocks/springs, although it is obviously an advantage for cornering. It's the stiffer spring rates you can run w/ aftermarket shocks/springs.
That's why ground control's (coilovers) are great. They have an off the shelf version that is great, but you can get custom spring rates tailored to your needs, and that's why the koni yellow's are so great, because they are one of the few shocks that can handle it.

You sir, are not a very educated person. You used cheap a$$ tenzo coil overs? You "eye balled" the drop?
-yah, this is a guy you want to take suspension advice from. ummm, no.

i am educated a little bit about suspension. you are right about saying i did a ghetto job on my suspension. However, the fact that i did a poor job setting up my suspension yet it was awsome shows that the tokico blue struts are not shit. As for better products, yea there are better quality, more expensive products out there. I autocrossed out here in phoenix so it is not like there are no good drivers or cars. All i was saying is the tokico struts are not shit and very good upgrade if you are on a budget. My car handled great on the streets and course. It was not uncomfortable at all either. I was probably very lucky as far as getting it right. I did drive this car for 18 months and never had any issues. I will get better springs next time like some eibach pro. I dont want a huge drop, mostly stiifer springs.
