they've been able to clock you while they're moving since the 90's

doesn't make it acurate though

yes it does, very accurate, as accurate as a stationary radar. the smaller less funded departments have some of the older radars that must be used from a stationary position, but most new ones can. best advice i can give, check into traffic school if your state offers that, no points against your license and is about the same price as paying the ticket.

i'm sure it's been tested and proven accurate or else it wouldn't be allowed.

666_speed
04-29-2006, 11:33 PM
exactly, it's even possible to clock 2 or more cars at the same time and still be accurate, to the mph.

maybe im thinkin of cops trying to do radar on u traveling the opposite direction. idk, its been a hell of a day, i can't think.

the radars we use, from a moving position only picks up the vehicles coming head on, not cars we are behind.

ZL1power69
04-30-2006, 12:21 AM
i mean on a 2 lane highway with radar being shot from a moving police car at another car driving the opposite direction.

666_speed
04-30-2006, 12:27 AM
that's how our radars work, on a 2 lane highway, only picking up cars coming at us head on, not picking up cars we are trailing.

In TN the Troopers have radar in front & rear.
So, if you come up too fast from behind, You've been had!

Also, be warned we have a lot of "aggressive driver" cops out there too.
They drive some very cool looking sports cars totally unmarked , tinted windows, nice chrome wheels......the works. They are out looking for road rage drivers, street racers, and those that dart from lane to lane cutting thru traffic. You wont know its a cop until all of those hidden blue LED lights are turned on

I have seen one of those cars here in Oregon.
Here is one.

They get some nice cars to drive around on our nickle... Oh well someone has to do it...
They even have regular plates to try to throw you off as well. ASS HOLES

Maybe this means that you should start obeying the law? I love the fact that they have cars like that, and I love it even more when I get to witness those cars take down some jerk that cut me off as he was weaving through traffic. Sweet justice.

I agree. I am an Oregon State Police Volunteer. So I can ride with them whenever I want. I got to go for a ride a long with a friend of mine before his camaro was milaged out. Holy Shit was that fun. We got a call to a MVC and we beat the fire department and the medic and we where 20 miles out of the way... The sleeper I got to see in person was at a police expo in one of the malls. It was a midnight blue with 20% tint all the way around, damn it was nice.

Do they keep the cars stock or do they have some kinda police package that they put on them?

a friend told me that they change the cooling system so they won't over heat as easy. If you do a search on google you should beable to find the police pakage that came on the camaro...

So guys on the force can't take money out of the budget and do something like slap a supercharger on one of the undercover camaros? It would be a pretty sweet perk for being a cop if you got a newer z28 and an expense account to spend how you wanted to make it go faster. They could cover costs by hosting a drag race where you pay a fee and you get to run against a cop to see if you can beat him. At the same time they could promote racing at the track instead of on the street. I'd pay to race a cop...

Yeah they put a package on em.. very good stuff, and its even sweeter when you buy the used police Camaros because they leave all the upgrades on it in the car, ofcourse they take all the police equipment though (You cant have that. :lol2: ) But if I remember right, Copmaros run 11s on the track..

o but they do allow it. some departments have gotten aftermarket companies to sponser them. heres an example of a moded B4C used in northlake, tx. u guys may recognize it from GMHTP;

i've saw those pictures on many different forums...the departments around here don't allow after market mods that i'm aware of for daily use of the vehicle reasons, an engine using nitrous isn't going to last as long as a n/a engine so they tend to shy away from aftermarket mods.

alright, i read the article again and it turns out the car is not an actual B4C car. the officer that drives it suggested the department have a vehicle that could catch modified vehicles in pursuit (after he blew the engine in his vic :lol: ). the department bought the car from a private owner and got sponsors to put up performance parts. heres a link to the article and the specs are listed at the bottom;
http://gmhightechperformance.com/features/0507htp_narcotic/
it ran a 12.6 1/4 mile before a FLT Stage 4 4L65E transmission, FAST intake, TSP 233/239 cam, and Nitrous Express NXL and MAF nitrous systems (total 375 shot) were added.

They are gonna run a 375 shot of N2O on stock internals?

the milwaukee sheriffs here have I think 5 Camaros. They are either black or red tinted windows, the works. The only way you can tell they are cops is the extra antennas on the back windshield but they could trick alot of people cause they look like cell phone antennas.
