But it was great. Was coming back from downtown. After I passed someone who was in the fast lane, someone else behind me wanted to play. I wasn't sure which car it was, but he followed right behind me. Well, At first I could see that it was a Mercedes CLS, and then he started slowly passing me. Then I saw the CLS 55 and AMG badges. I knew I couldn't beat it, but I still wanted to see it go, so I floored it. Got about a couple of car lengths before the guy realized what I was trying to do :iceslolan I hung with him for about 3-4 seconds (meaning he was "only" a couple of cars ahead) but then he REALLY started walking me. He had a couple of bus lengths at least before I let off at 140 mph (We started off at about 70) Not only are these things highway monsters, but they can handle pretty good too. He slowed down down the road and as we passed him I gave him thumbs up. It was a a couple of guys in their late 20s. I wasn't in the BMW.

what were you in?

The CLS55 is pretty quick, I would love to see how my M3 would do against one. Supposedly they stick pretty well to the E60 M5s until they reach 100 or so. Loads of torque in those things, but the 5 speed automatic seems a little basic for a modern $90,000 super-saloon, especially considering the M5's 7 speed SMG and the DSG system that will be offered with the 911 and the next RS6. I mean come on, you can get a C230 with a 7 speed but not the CLS55?

i don't think benz can make a strong enough 7 speed yet, that is why the CL65 amg is still a 5 speed.

type S what car were you in?

Yeah, I just saw some quarter mile times and they run mid to low 12s while trapping around 115 mph

I was in my new car which is http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/9799/lexusgs4uc.jpg

What sorta problems where you having with the BMW??

I agree... good taste... I'm diggin the look of the Lexus, it's pretty hot for a big four door saloon. :p

Haha yea, I need the space.

While I had it I had the radiator, water pump and a few sensors replaced. The car only had about 60K miles on it. Then my brakes started going bad and a few lights came on (check engine, DSC, ABS) and I didn't wanna screw around with it anymore. My two friends also have 540is and they've had the same problems with the radiator, plus the catalyic converter ($2000), driveshaft ($1200) and a few other "minor" things like ball joints. I figured it was only a matter of time for me too, so I decided to get something a little more reliable.

Plus I got a good deal on the GS400 from a guy who took good care of it. It came with the L-tuned suspension, BBS wheels and L-tuned exhaust tips.

That happened with my 3...something about taking the twisty ass roads at high speeds everywhere I went. Anyways, nice looking Lexi, hows the suspension on it? I've driven a few Lexuses, and save the IS300, I never liked the suspension. Same problem with my moms C320, way to floaty.

And regarding the AMGs, my understanding as why they run the times that they do is that they dont get traction...at all. The Top Gear vid about the CL65 demonstrates it pretty well. And I think manuals for Benzs are a pretty new thing, as a while back, the big complaint was that you couldn't get a AMG with a stick.

And Dinan...word on the DSG. I hear its rather yummy in the new 911s...

Yeah I thought Mercedes just started putting in manual trannies in the new C class.

I'm not sure how the stock suspension is, but the L-tuned one (springs and shocks) is actually pretty decent. It's a nice mix between sport and luxury. But it's not as good as the stock sports suspension on the 540. That thing could hug the road like it was on rails. (considering it's a 4 door saloon)
