05 wrx vs 02 wrx and 06 wrx sti

ok.. so in anchorage we have the weekend racing..
u see hondas and trucks everywhere..so my car is a wrx 05 blue with cobb ap stage 2. basic bolt ons.. downpipe, uppipe, bov, no exhaust (hate the loud noise) and i am running stage 2 93 octane map. with sum torco octane booster. we only get 90 octane up here in anchorage.
might be pushing 200 whp.. or a little more..

well, i stop at a gas station full of racers or ricers whatever u call them.. i am a ricer, but i dont spend money putting stickers on my car..i talk to some of the people i know, and my friend (who also owns a 05 wrx with vf34 turbo, sti pink injectors, walbro fuel pump, downpipe, uppipe, cobb stage 2.5) is talking to a black 02 wrx, (also cobb stage 2)the black 02 wrx says that he beat a ford lighting..and i never raced a lighting before, but i hear that they are really fast.. so i ask the guy if he wanted to run..

1st race
we drove to a red light and a long stretch of road.. the light turns green and we both punched it.. i had a really good launch, wheels spin for little bit and took off. end of 1st, i got him by 1 1\2 cars. was like 2 secs.. 2nd i pulled a little bit more, and at the end of 2nd had him by 2 1\2 cars. so i shut down.. he told me he bogged out at the launch.

2nd race
from a roll of 25 at 2nd gear, i gave him the start. he got on it and got me by 1\2 a car, and i punched it.. he shifted to 3rd.. and i was still on 2nd.. i creep upped and got next to him. and when i shifted to 3rd, i had a fender on him.. and we stayed that way until end of 3rd.. well i was end of 3rd, i dont know if he shifted to 4th.

he was really pissed. and shaking his head when he was behind me stoped at a redlight to make a u turn back to the gas station. we got back and everyone was about to leave to go racing. or to watch people race. nobody wanted to race cause they dont have any fast cars. so the whole 2 hours people just stood around waiting for someone to race. there was a race between my friends red wrx 05 against an 04 blue wrx (headers, mbc, exhaust, downpipe, uppipe, maybe a turbo upgrade, cobb accessport unknown stage) they raced and the blue one took it by 2 cars.

ok, now for the sti race. he was pulling pretty hard, from what i see. so when we were behind the blue and red wrx, he looking like he would catch up or pass them.. but for sure i had no chance to beat those two..

1 st race
from a rolling start at 2nd about 25.. he took the start and got me about 2 cars, and kept on pulling after 100
we pulled over and he ask me did he get me.. i was like i dont know but it looks like it.. :rofl:

2nd race from a stop light.
the light turn green and i got a good launch, rev to 5-5.5k rpm.. and slip the clutch.. and car took off, must have had him about 1-2 cars.. from the end of 1st. i was really happy. :evillol: and shifted to 2nd and he was still behind me, and shifted to 3rd and still the same spot.. but after that he would creep up, and when i hit 100 at the end of 3rd he was right by my back fender. and i stop because there was one car in his lane about 50 feet away. so i pulled over..

i told him, nice run, and he would have gotten me at the middle of 4th. he told me he had a bad launch, and he was at 120 mph :eek2: when i got beside me.. i was like damn, i was at only 100 maybe.. for high end i cannot beat him.. but atleast i got him in the quarter mile.. :evillol:

Aren't rex's Honda CRX's nickname. Too many cars are trying to steal it from the Honda, the rsx, wrx, it should stick to one car, the OG if you will.

i've heard that people use to call crx rex's but it doens't make sence to me.

RX= rex. so if your gonna go OG then the RX2 or RX3 should be the OG since those came out in the early 70's.

but since we're not goin og. they don't make crx's anymore plus it doesn't sound like rex. i'll just go on calling the wrx a rex.

there are over 60 wrx out here in the small town of anchorage.. about 20 wrx drivers i know race..
i see about 15 or so sti out.. 10 of those sti are driven by old grammas..lol every where u go around here u would see a wrx. like how u would see a honda everywhere u go..

Nice kill on the STi in the second race. I raced a WRX once from a roll (a couple runs) and it was not close at all. I would let him get the jump, then floor it, and I would have 3 cars within a second or two. He was stock though where you are stage 2. Sounds like you can launch pretty well, as long as you get a little wheel spin, you are doing it right.

i had a really good launch, wheels spin for little bit and took off.

questions:
1 - you drive a wrx right
2 - you have basic boltons and estimate 200whp
3 - how did you get wheelspin, my best friend has a 02 wrx thats like 280 to the wheels and he doesnt get wheelspin

What are you talking about? If I dump my clutch at 6000RPM I am going to spit a hell of a lot more than if I slip the clutch from 6000RPM.... Are you a possible crack addict?

why get so rude.. fwd and rwd, sure u can drop that shit from 6k and it would spin, cause u have no traction..
but when i slip i get a little wheel spin.. key word is "little"..

my shit is awd..i get a little wheel spin when i slip my clutch..i have never drop my clutch.. i am not trying to break a tranny..that is why i said i dont know..

when i slip my clutch i am at the point of engagement already.. so when i rev my shit from 6k and let off, 6k and let off.. until we until the light shift to green, i would just floor it.. and it is like the instant i floor, i just slip the clutch (it is like an inch of slipping) and the cars wheel would spin a little and i get traction..and then i go..

Lover, I've driven/raced about a dozen '02-'06 wrxs and stis, as well as another 200+ subarus and AWD cars, and I've yet to drive in one that could spin tires stock or BPU. Now with significant power adders (read: swapped turbos) then yes, but slipping OR dumping, no such luck here. Just my experience.

Now if I have the wheels cocked sideways, and dump the clutch...then yes. But that is slightly different.

I have an STi and I can chirp the tires launching, even with the sticky Potenza RE070s and stock HP. A WRX comes with RE050s which aren't as sticky, so you can still probably break traction even with less HP. The tires don't spin continuously, just for half a second. Breaking traction is necessary to keep your drive line from taking the brunt of the launch force.

I was gonna say...mabe I've had some bad examples or something, but I don't know anybody from the Subaru club who can seriously spin on a launch...except the guy who converted his STi to RWD ( I know :uhoh: )

I can chirp my tires pretty well on turns cause my Potenzas SUCK, but I really can't generate much wheelspin on a launch on the Legacy no matter how hard I drop the clutch....The AWD doesn't mess around...unless theres snow...

he didnt say he spun his tires continuously... just chirped em a little is how i understood it. i could see it happening, for instance if i slip the clutch a little slowly in just normal driving itll chirp the tires some. if i dumped it though at the same rpm it would probably just stall.

why are you guys bashing the guy for saying he lit up the tires on a launch? I chirped all 4 tires and got them smoking from a 5500 clutch slip at the track on toyo t1-s tires when i was only pushing 220awhp...

Just to add my:2cents: I can spin the tires on the Land Rovers at work from a stop.:dunno: I mean its not a Smokey burn out but they still spin for a 1/4 of a sec. Now wither its all 4 wheels or just the front until the diff adjusts IDK.
