Anyone know how to take out the cd player to replace it with an aftermarket?

Anyone know how to take out the cd player to replace it with an aftermarket?

I wish I could remember. I took the cassette deck out and replaced it with an OE CD unit several years ago. Can't remember what I had to do. I remember looking at it for a long time, thibking it was impossible, and suddenly it was all clear to me....

I'll go look at mine and see if it comes back to me..

Just looked. I think I had to take off the lower panel under the steering column, because it overlaps the upper that surrounds the gauges and radio. The climate control knobs just pull off.

Seems like after taking that lower off, it was real easy to get the other off...

i thought that was the trick...seemed like I remembered the top being velcroed on or something, clips or whatever.

I do remember having to tilt the column down and put it in nuetral to get the panel off...
