Homelink transitter help

Hello everyone, I am new and I am anxious to participate.
I have purchased a 1996 Sedan Deville and it is 1 great car! I cannot figure my universl transmitter out though. the manual tells me (2-57) to press the outer 2 buttons and hold them until the light flahes...... and so on. I understand that but my transmitter is different than what is described in the book.
Mine has 1 button on the left side that activates the red light next to it when pressed and next to that is a 3 position slide switch that I assume is to select which 1 of 3 garage doors to open.
I have looked , called cadillac, homelink , and searched to no avail!

Has anyone seen such a transmitter , and better yet , does anyone know how to program it?
