Another ride added to the stable

Howdy AF. It's been a few weeks. Thought I'd better check in again :) So about the new ride....some of you may have read that I lost my 99 Saturn SL2 in an accident in March, then got a 2002 SL2 to replace it. Unfortunately some issues came up with it. Long story short the brakes were not up to par and the transmission was acting up but no one could diagnose it. I had already taken it back to the shop a few times within 3 weeks of owning it. The dealership we got it from has a 30-day exchange policy, the only catch being you have to pick from their current inventory, new or used. The price of the Saturn went toward the price of my new chariot...a 2003 Nissan Xterra 2WD. 51K miles and clean inside and out :)

This is my first truck so I'm enjoying the view from being up higher and the ability to haul stuff around. Alex and I had been talking about adding a truck or SUV the automotive stable for some time so we decided now was a good opportunity :D

be careful, high up mean high centre of gravity, corner too fast and it'll roll. i've seen it happen.

Very nice, I've always liked the looks of an Xterra / Liberty in the city. And it should be a great Arizona ride.

Thanks :) Yes, this vehicle is definiely not for cornering, no I haven't tried :p I respect that it's larger and can/can't do certain things my past little cars could. I've only had it 2 weeks so far. I still need to get used to backing up in parking lots. Low cars such as Z4's are kinda hard to see when they're right behind you. I've always liked the Xterra's myself, but each time I was in the market for a car (which isn't often) they were out of the price range/budget. Since the price of my Saturn went toward it though we were able to afford this one. It sucks having one more car payment now, but $180 a month is easier to come by than $300-400 here and there for repairs.

I've always liked Nissans, my parents have had them in the family since the early 80s...the opportunity finally for me to finally have one presented itself. Other Nissans available were Altima's but I have evil thoughts about them since that's what totalled out my Saturn :lol2:

 i backed into a taurus which was waiting directly behind me at a gas station. i did not see it at all. no damage though.

but yea, your going to have be alot more careful.

however, as long as you can manage the gas prices, an SUV is quite nice.

A friend of mine has a near identical bead cluster hanging from his rear-view mirror as well. Something I should know here?

:lol2: No, my dear Heep...nothing questionable is occurring. I actualluy bought it 2 years ago when I got the first Saturn along with several other necklaces (yeah I buy crap like that for my cars). I had another one just like it except all tan beads. I was gonna use it in the newer Saturn but that car started acting up too soon to waste accessorizing it :D

Congrats!!! I wanted an X soooooooooo bad when I got my Subaru, but the gas mileage (I was shopping in September... oops) was just too low for my then-3-hour-round-trip commute. Now that my commute is about half of that, I am kicking myself in the ass for not going for what I wanted in the first place... It looks GREAT!!!

I saw an X-trail on the road when I was looking to buy a car... I think they are nice, but MUCH smaller than the X-terra. I was so upset when I discovered I couldn't get one in the States. :( I think they're cute.

small? they're pretty big by european standards. then again, you guys think of a chevy malibu as a small car. it's pretty big by our standards. also engine wise, most people here have like 2-litre engines, you wont find many 7-litre engines, unless it's a US grey import or a bus.
