Idea for logging in...

Okay, any time I come to AF after clearing my cache, I have to log-in again... But it is irritating because I have all my usual forums bookmarked, and if I'm not logged in, the registration window pops up, and I have to close that and then go to the AF home page to log in, and then back to the forum I originally intended to visit...

It's not a huge problem, but it is annoying...

How about putting the log-in fields (username, password, login button) in the registration window that pops up? Seems like an easy fix.

I have an easier solution. When you clean out your cache, you can manually clean them out. When you do so, make sure to leave the af cookie in your cache. You won't have to register everytime.

That'd be fine, but I'm not the only one who uses the computer, and other people have a tendency to delete my cookies.

When you say AF homepage I'm assuming you mean the VERY first AF.com page...

All you have to do is get to the forums mainpage, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and sign in before the registration window gets to pop-up! ;) I have gotten quite efficient at it. But then again, I'm on dial-up with a lousy comp, so I have a little second of time to get it all done.

That's easy! Leave a big sign in front of the computer saying:

How about putting the log-in fields (username, password, login button) in the registration window that pops up? Seems like an easy fix. I have certain forums bookmarked, and when I'm de-cookied, the forum displays fine, just without "new post" icons.

However, I often enter AF by going straight to my "AF vB Home Page" at http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/usercp.php?s= because, from that page, I can see if I have PMs, which of my "Buddies" are online, and if there are new posts in my subscribed forums. Since that page is invalid for a non-logged-in user, it immedately prompts me to log in. (Usuallly with the pop-up, too. Nothing to be done about that...) I will than sign in, get the white "wait a sec..." page, then the originally requested page will appear. At that point, if I go back two pages to where I had the log-in screen, but had requested the "Home page," now that I'm cookied, the Home page will be in place.

In a similar fashion, AF will give you a login screen anytime you try to do a function that requires you to log in. So, like in your case, your in a particular forum and aren't cookied, just click "New Thread," which will ask you to log in. Then, once you have and it gives you the posing form, you can just hit back thrice (twice will put you back to the new thread form; see my example for why... ;)) and be back at your original forum. You may have to refresh at this point to get all the appropriate "New reply" icons (just press F5.)

Does that help any? :D

seeing as theres plenty of mods on this thread, how do you find out how many referrals you have, and if you have had a post reported???

No one but Igor would have records of what posts have been reported...
