Get the tool from KD or Motormite....its a thin, flat metal tool that will slide behind and slide the clip back to release the handle. You can also take a rag,and slide it behind the handle, and wiggle it around while pulling it back....it will usually slide the snap ring back too.

The tool is the best choice, you can get them from summit too. The rag trick never worked for me, but before I bought the tool I would just use 2 well-positioned small, flathead screwdrivers (can be a huge pain without the tool though as the c-clip is very small and the space is tight).

no for the thousandth time...or however u spell that word..lol
all you need is a flat head screwdriver...it is so easy to do with a flathead that you dont need the stupid waste of money tool!
pull the window crank out so you can see the clip....and pop it out...i did it and it took me 5 minutes each...5 minutes per door vs 15.00....il spend a little extra time vs money anyday

The rag trick and screwdriver both worked for me, the rag trick was a bit of a pain in the ass and took abit of time. Screwdriver was easy and quick.

The rag never worked for me. I also tried using a string instead of a rag and it didn't work either.

The tool is the best way to go.
The reasons being:
A: It will work like a charm each time, every time, with no risk of effing up your door panel.
B: GM has used the same clip system on vehicles since the 40s. That tool works on all of them.
C: $10 is pocket change. Well worth the peace of mind.
But the flathead does work.
