'89 Idle Slow/Stop and Check Engine Light On

I have an 1989 Acura Legend Coupe and the Check Engine Light comes on and off at different times. When slowing down or coming to a stop the car shuts off. The idling is not working properly at times. Can you suggest what to check first or tell me what the problem might be?

:) BRING YOUR CAR TO A SHOP AND LET THEM DIAGNOSE IT BY USING THE OBD1 SCANNER TO KNOW WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND OFF. OR IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND WHO KNOWS HOW TO RESET IT. AND CHECK THE FUEL SYSTEM IT MIGHT HAVE SOME VACCUM LEAK.:uhoh:
