At the moment I have a stock 1995 3.8L V6 mustang with dual magnaflow cat back system and flowmaster 40's and CAI with 153,851 miles on it. I am turning 17 soon and i am already thinking about what i should do with it. I am either thinking about adding a supercharger or just to keep saving for the next two years and either get an 87-93 5.0L or to get a 99-00 with a 4.6L. If i bought a new car i would make sure it had no more than 80,000 so that it would last me awhile and i could work and do more to it. Any opinions on what you think would be the most promising idea?

If I where you I'd get a fox body car. I wish I could have had one in highschool. You can get a pretty nice one for fairly cheap and they respond great to mods. Figure out how much you could sell the '95 for and go from there to give us an idea of what your budget may be like.

It really depends on what you want and your situation. I would just rebuild the engine, your pretty young and it would probaly be a good learning experience(if you care). Not to mention your single port engines dont have a lot of flow, it would be better to just have a good flowing N/A engine then just putting F/I on a stock single port, and then later if you want to make more power you can you could get forged internals and a turbo or s/c'er.

Well i bought it for $2300 listed at $4500 i would probably try to sell for around 3500 obo. Right now I have $2500 saved up. My budget would probably be around $5000-7000.

Thats my delema if you read in my first post i cant decide if i should save for the next two years and get a fox body 5.0L or a 99-03 4.6L or 94-95 5.0L or if I should spend the cash I have now and get a supercharger and upgrade the 3.8L but i already have 153,851 miles on it.

Why would you have to save for two more years? Start looking for a decent fox body. You can find them all day long with 100k miles, straight body, and less then $5k. I got my car for $1500. It had a carb'd 302 & C4 with the stock 4cyl rearend in it (my car is ex 4cyl). But, the 302 had problems, valve covers leaked, valve seals where shot, carb leaked fuel, temp guage port in intake leaked, oil pan leaked, rear main leaked, & the carb was fed by a EFI pump which = drowned motor. The stock EFI pumps for these cars push around 40psi, carbs need ~7psi. Also the C4 leaked fluid around then pan, pump, rear seal, and it would not go into high gear (I think that was just a linkage problem though). So you see, I bought my car for the body style, the coupes are getting harder to find these days. But you throw another $2k-$3k on top of what I payed and you will have a sweet fox body 5.0 car. For some reason the LX hatch cars seam to be cheaper and easier to come buy. But I looked for my car for 6 months before I found what I was looking for. Just shop smart and be sure to get the car you want within reason of your budget. Have someone that knows their way around cars check it out before you spend your money.

Like 351 said "why save the money?" You have plenty now for a fox body 5.0. I understand if you want one with low miles and cleaner than the average 13-18 year old car. Then just take your $2,500 and sell your car and take that $$$ and go get a 5.0, NO PROBLEM FINDING A DECENT ONE FOR AROUND $5,000!
WHY WOULD YOU EVEN CONSIDER SUPERCHARGING AN ENGINE WITH 150,000 MILES????!!!!! Even if it is a V8, that would be a waste of time and money!
Just look in your local trader papers or newspaper and see what you can find.

If you know someone with some mechanical experience that is willing to help you rebuild the engine then I would do that, you can buy good H/C/I powerpaks for around $2000. Or you can find a low milage split port motor and swap it into your car, their around $300-400 and just mod that. http://www.v6power.net/dyno/ Those are some numbers people are making with different set up's.

For the fox bodied mustangs whats the main difference between the 87-93 5.0 GT and LX is it just body styling?

Off Topic: just noticed I hit post number 1320...1320'=1/4 mile. Lol, just thought that was kinda cool. But, gotta be up for work at 5am so I'm going to sleep.
