2000 Civic EX Caliper Issue

I recently installed new rotors, brake pads, and rebuilt the calipers on my 2000 Civic EX. Caliper rebuild was prompted by the left caliper seizing and wearing out the pads. I am still having a problem with the left caliper. I think one of the "rods" from the separate "guide" has seized up. I greased them really well and cleaned out the receiver hole & sanded the guide rod, but it still won't move easily. Is it possible to rebuild the guide rods or does it require a total replacement of the guide? The part I'm talking about is the part that holds the brake pads but is not a intrinsic part of the caliper....clear as mud? HELP!

I wouldn't recomment starting to rebuild your guide, the best would be to go to a scrap yard and buy the piece!!!

im not sure if your refering to the caliper sub assembly or the caliper itself, but, either one will only cost you $40-$50 + tax at your local parts store.

I went to a local junk yard and got an entire caliper pulled from a wrecked car. I hate that I just spent 20 bucks rebuilding the dang caliper! GRRRR!:banghead:

I got the caliper, switched out the sub-assembly with the one on the car, and was on my way within 45 minutes! Now I just have to replace the tire I wore out when the caliper was dragging! Thanks for the info!:)

I bled the brakes & all seems well; what, may I ask, is the "correct order?"
