Intercooler size question

I wanted some opinons before making my purchase. I'm checking out an intercooler (bar and plate) with core size 19x6x3 with 2.5" in/outlet. I know 2.5" piping is fine but is the core big enough to support an e16g? I want to get the smallest core possible (less cutting and bumper modification) that will easily support my turbo (which I will probably never max out). I know some people say that the stock SMIC is fine for the e16g so I figure this core will be fine but I wanted to get some opinions.

I'd go FMIC over SMIC any day on any turbo. I'd also agree that a smaller FMIC for a smaller turbo is a good idea. A little bigger core shouldnt hurt, but that core seems like a pretty good size. I would definately use 2" instead of 2.5". Bigger piping actually hurts performance unless you are running a massive turbo.

That's why I figured I wouldn't go 3". Thanks man.

I just put my intercooler on tonight actually. I got a moster though. Mine measures (core itself) 24 x 12 x 3.5! My piping is 2.5 inches, and will be fine for any turbo i want. You wont ever have to use 3 inch intercooler piping, thats just way to large. And yes, that size intercooler seems nice. I just got a huge one because i was going to run a monster turbo, but im selling that now, and getting a 16g. Next winter however im getting a bigger turbo, so this intercooler will do me good... hopefully.

2.5" is good for your setup, I wouldnt do 2". I have a 24x12x3 on a s16g and it spools faster than my 14b on a smic so you could go bigger.
