Hi;

I have a 97 Sportage Twin Cam with aboyt 80,000 miles on it. A few days ago the motor start to fail, and made ticking sound. The motor stay on until I change from Parking to Reverse, the motor goes off and don't turn on in Neutral ( to ry to move it) and only start in Park position. The ligths in the dash seems to go from normal to a dim state (not flashing) continusly.
Any IDEA?
Thanks

Is that when you try to start?
ALl in all, this looks like bad ground/corroded contacts...a frequent issue with sportages. Come back with more details or any development....
ON the other hand..at 80,000 miles, the timing belt is overdue unless it has been changed already. Better safe than sorry...
