Has anyone built this model?
If so do you have any tips on the model as this will be my first build with all the help of this site and a airbrush rather than a paintbrush.
As the kit comes with some photoetched parts would you recomment getting some more and if so will just standard F40 parts fit?
Cheers again

Best I can do is refer you to my F40 build, see my sig. The Tamiya F40GT is the same as he original F40 kit, with a new interior. There's not another PE set out there for this kit that I know of that's worth the cost or effort of finding.

Wilo,
Aren't you just starting out? Advanced kit to start with, but why not. Jump in at the deep end.. LOLThe F40 is an awesome kit, the F40 competizone is just the same as the Tamiya F40, but with decals and P/E. I have the kit myself, both the Tamiya F40's are superb from looking in the box contents.
What I do recommend, is look on www.hiroboy.com and buy the Ferrari metal transfers from crazy modeller. This will be of some use, as will CF decals, but as for P/E I'd save the money on this.
MPWR has had a arguements in the past in regards to P/E, and I tend to agree at times. Somethings P/E isn't worth the extra money. I built a Pennzoil R34, I could have got P/E parts for it, but I just detailed painted and it looked just as nice I think.
The above threads are VERY good reads. Good luck, and post a WIP when you get started..

cheers all
MPWR i have been looking over your F40 and this is the reason i bought this kit as it was the same price as the normal F40 (i bet that is the first time the F40 has been called normal) your building skills are a big encoragement and i have printed all you pics and tips out and have them set up around by building desk :grinyes: :grinyes:

i am a begginner i have made a few models of the last few years (a 360 and some bikes) and loved every minute of it so this getting into it in a big way has been on the cards for a few years, i have already got the F40, Shelby Cobra, a MV, a spitfire and the Ducati Desmosedici with the PE set as well as the fork set and stand set to start :naughty: :naughty: its not cheap i think i must have spent well over 500 pounds up to now :evillol: :evillol:
i am not holding out much hope that the F40 will look like any of the models on here but if i get a half decent model at the end of it i will be happy.
I have ordered the Ferrari metal decals, seat belts as well as CF sheets of www.hiroboy.com (http://www.hiroboy.com) as well as a load more stuff and i think they will be delivered tommorow.
i am planning on doing a begginers build post and posting progeress problems etc on hear what do you think?

You mean this was my inspiration? :uhoh: :evillol: Good luck to you!
Seriously, if you have any problems or questions, feel free to ask. I'm sure we'll all watch your thread with interest. It can be a great way to learn, posting a build progress and having a bunch of "older, more experinced modelers" taking potshots at you. (Eh, Stevenski?)
