Well......after the poll that was taken for the next kit to build....its underway :sun:
So far i've had a play to see what sort of ride height and wheels i want to go with.
The stock wheels have been chucked in favour of some aftermarket rims.
It does piss me off how the drawing on the box makes the car look so good. The wheels are really crap and look nothing like the box....the tyres look like bloody truck tyres...lol
I'm sure its just a plan by fujimi to make crappy ones with the kit so you have to buy there nice new rims and low profile tyres:(
Anyway, heres a pic with some 18's that IMO look pretty good....i have another 6 sets on order from HLJ that will hopefully be here in the next few days to see what they look like.
Colour....no idea as yet:confused:

Looks cool to me! Which kit is it? I looked and found several from Fujimi. As for the color.....BLACK would look pretty slick IMO.

Anyway great choice on model and wheels, how about something completely different for the colour? Check out some import sites for inspiration.

 Ahhh....!!!!! Those are nice rims! What kind are they? With my crappy memory with rims, I am guessing they are similar to F&F Eclipse rims.

I have the Veilside version of the Silvia stalled because I want to mod it extremely to make it at least look like the veilside version rather than an ugly thing...i can't find a good word.

Started on the parts today....getting them sanded and ready for painting and spraying. As you can see from the first two photo's there's not much to this kit.
The last pic shows the two different tyres/rims.
The body will take the most of the time as it has skirts that dont fit to well. So a bit of time will have to be spent getting them just right.
For a new kit, the molding is not that good. Has quite a lot of "flashing" and most parts have quite heavy molding lines through them.

Have "we" decided on a color yet? A smooth black finish would look sweet on that car....but if you choose another, I'll just have to buy one and paint it black!

Hey Pman, just wait until you get your hands on the s15 veilside it took me days just to get the left hand side skirt to fit! those really are some bad fitting skirts, I'll get some pics up as soon as I get my hands on a digi cam again.

Well after getting all the suspension done, its going to need a lowering job:p
It ended up looking nothing like what it did in the photos earlier with the wheels just sitting there. Dont think you would like a 4X4 Silvia..lol
Here's a bottom pic after getting it done.

The interior is 99% done...just the centre to finish off.

I wonder myself at times why to. I thought most cars are done in a flat black....mybe this can be a show car only :) :) :)
Most kits seem to ask for the chassis to be body colour

I usually paint it black for road cars. I've been under a few 1:1 cars and it is black down there. But body color underbody help the exhaust and engine detail to stand out. I guess it is up to personal preference.:)

DJMR2: what kit are you working on?

jaykit21
07-26-2002, 10:07 AM
Pman, you should shave off the front license plate mount frame. I did this to mine and it smooths out the front well. Also, you should open up the front bumper intake holes on the left and right. I put small scale wire mesh here and placed intercooler parts behind them. Its really easy to do (even with the bumper painted) and makes the whole car look more aggressive and realistic. Nice work!:bandit:

Last update !!!

Almost have it finished...hopefully tomorrow. Just got lots of small detail left to do like the rear wing/wipers/mirrors etc etc.
I'm going to leave the side skirts off as IMO they dont suit the car or fit to well either :( :( ...so they have joined the "Spares Box"
I think the car has cleaner lines without them
