Normal Operation Questions

HVAC Question:

I have an '05 Sierra (I post here due to knowledgable and helpful folks) with manual dual zone climate control.

With the mode select switch one notch clockwise from full counter-clockwise, air starts flowing out of the side window defrost vents. Is this how others operate or does the air not start flowing from the side defrost ducts until you've gone past the floor vent/dash position and on toward the floor register only position?

The delaer gave me a Grand Prix to drive while my truck is there and it works like the latter description.

I realize that GM says "regardless of the mode setting, a small amount of air will be diverted to the defrost ducts to reduce windshield fogging". I think it's dumb to have air coming out of vents other than the ones indicated. That's what the mode select switch is for. If I need defrost, I'm capable of selecting it.

Power folding mirror question:

Do your power folding mirrors fold to a ninety degree angle to the window?

My passenger side does but the driver side started stopping short a few weeks after I got it. The dealer service advisor says another one on the lot does the same thing so he won't fix it. I told him it apparently was screwed up too.

Non-related frustration section:

Truck is at the dealer this week for a few things. The service rep has been pretty rude. I indicated dissatisfaction about a few things I figured they may not do anything about, such as: popping and banging muffler, crappy shocks (front rides like a slow moving boat going through waves) etc. Rather than say, GM won't do anything, you'll have to go aftermarket, the guy basically told me I shouldn't have bought the truck if I didn't like them. How rude can you get?

Corner cutting on products will not improve GMs outlook. Reducing overhead, solid quality cars and customer service will.

I don't know the answers to your questions but I can tell you this: As far as the rude customer service rep, ask to speak to the service manager. If this gets you nowhere, ask to speak to the general manager.

If that still doesn't get you anywhere (in that they still refuse to fix anything) call the front desk sometime and ask for the local area rep's name and phone number.

I've had to go that route when I had an issue with a dealership. Since the dealer didn't care, the area rep had to drive down from Dallas and get involved in the situation. I got the response I was looking for.

Thanks for the info Faze3. I won't be using that service advisor again. Got the truck back and they remedied a couple of things. I'm going to spend some more time researching my case before I make more attempts. I will also demostrate go for a drive with the advisor so we're on the same page and can have the discussions face to face.

Oh yah, issues aside I was sure glad to get my truck back after driving the loaner grand prix.
