88 IROC making noise

Everytime my 88 IROC-Z hits a bump on the road it makes a loud ping sound in the rear end, if it's a serious of bumps it sounds like 'ting ting ting'. I told the mechanics to fix it and they didin't do anything except tell me I need new calipers and sway bar links, not sure if either of those would fix it either. But on the thing where I paid they wrote "Slight rearend noise while driving from ring and pinion". Well the noise isn't slight it's very loud and obnoxious and everyone looks at me like my car is falling apart. Anything I can do to fix this?

um, make shure your tire jack is bolted all the way down,lol. My car made a noise like that when i hit bumps and the jack was loose.

Well, maybe a master bushing set will fix the prob.
If I remember correctly, you want to use your camaro as a daily driver, right?
Well the stock rubber bushings dont last forever and realy kill drive quality as they deteriorate. This summer I plan on installing a poly set from energy suspension.
Ive been driving my car for over 4 years and I have had it with the poor drive quality....

You might also want to check your Torque Arm Mount Bushing...I just remembered that I had an issue like what you described and it turned out that this bushing was really worn(plus the quys at the tranny shop had f**ked it up...)
You can check it really quick, just get under the rear of your car, the torque arm is the metal bar that goes from the differential to the side of the tranny...check where it mounts to the tranny. If it looks like there could be some free movement happening there, then that would be a good place to start. Anyone have any opinions on eather set?

If I may, I think they did in fact tell you what the problem is, they mentioned brake calipers, perhaps one has a stuck piston seal and the brake pad is is floating around and causing the noise, especially since there was a TSB issued in the early to mid 90's regarding GM rear disk system and rattling due to that very problem.

Why not take a few minutes, remove the rear wheels and see if the pads are loose? :dunno:
