Ok my 92 Ford Probe LX is acting weird, I know this isn't an Eclipse, Talon or Laser. but this isn't really a problem that is make and model specific, and there is no one in the Ford Probe section here lol so if i posted this there it probably wouldn't get responded to for like a month at least lol. so i figured i would come to my fellow DSMers since a lot of us know a lot about cars.
Ok tell me if this sounds like a fuel filter problem or fuel pump problem? or anything else (if you can)? lol Ok when i start it I have to push on the gas in order for it to stay alive. If i don't give it some gas and turn the key, it will start but will spudder and die in like 2 secs. After it gets warmed up it will idle, but pretty low (like 500 rpm). So in the first few mins. of driving (until it warms up) when ever i have to stop i have to push on the gas a little with my right foot and the brake with my left LOL kinda dangerous and also difficult at times. So if anyone can help me with my delema it would be awesome. If not then o well, at least i tried lol
Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like it could be your spark plugs. I'd check them, maybe even replace them since they are such a cheap item. :2cents:

I don't know if the problem you're having is specifically fuel related but if you're asking a specifically fuel related question then it sounds more like a filter than a pump to me.

If all else fails you could always go with a 5 dollar bottle of fuel system cleaner. My brother's beater camero started stalling when he would come to a stop. He put a bottle of the fuel system cleaner in the car and it fixed him right up. I would do that lastly though.

My car does the same exact thing, but not as bad anymore. Everyone tells me its the Idle Air control valve but I have yet to actually test it out or replace it. Im soo lazy.

I replaced the plugs and wires a few months ago, so thats most likely not the problem. I agree, i think it sounds more like the fuel filter rather than the pump (hopefully) and i also thought about the injector cleaner, I might do the injector cleaner first lol just b/c its my beater... but i dunno i might just get a filter. I'll let you guys know what happens. anyone else have any opinions on this?

You might as well do the fuel filter anyways, what's the worst that could happen, your car will run the same? If anything, it'll run better and you'll get more economy out of it.

^Sorry dude I couldn't look @ it anymore.
Filter is basic maint. you should do it and any other basic stuff you haven't done (air filter, vaccuum leaks, dirty TB, etc.), but if the problem goes away after warm up then it sounds like a possible sensor prob to me (i.e. IAT or water temp sensor) :2cents: GL Hope I am wrong.

yeah, thanks for all the input guys, i knew i would get more help here than any other place even though it isnt a DSM. I think im just gonna replace the fuel filter and throw some fuel injector cleaner in it afterwards and she how she does. Wish me luck lol.
