problems with convertible top

I'm desperate--summer's coming and my top is broken. When I open it, the "bow assembly" does not allow the roof to go into the trunk. I took a look and it looks like a cable has snapped. The dealer says its the entire "bow assembly" which is going to cost 4000$ to fix. Does anyone have suggestions?? Perhaps a part number so that I might get it cheaper? Or know a shop in the Washington, DC area that can provide the service at a better price??
