Think maybe after 10+ tries to start

Just wanted to see just how many starts I could get out of a 9yr old/155k mile starter :rofl:

Hey, got to give me credit, I've pushed it along for the last 6-7 weeks. Finally on Sunday it really started to give the ghost, taking 4-5 tries to start the truck; then yesterday, took 6 tries in the morning and 10 tries in the afternoon.

Something tells me that I squeezed the last little remaining juice - can't say I didn't get my starter's worth :cwm27:

My went last summer at 8yr/100K mi mark, it did the some thing as yours but I didn't wait until the last drop. You got very good service life but it look like it "number of starts" related.
I got new Bosch with 2yr warranty for $200.
These exhaust gaskets sure were expansive 2 for $40 and only from your "friendly" Honda dealer(I am not sure if we still have any Zu dealer around here). I decided let my mechanic figth rusty exhaust bolts and that starter change cost me a lot.

Not sure if it's a number of starts related or just pure luck. This truck has been stopped/restarted many many times in it's lifetime.

I've heard that I was very lucky to have had it last that long; most go out before 100k - I was trying to get another 2 weeks out of it though, cause I too ended up with the Bosch starter and didn't have the money this week.

Unfortunately because I didn't have cash up front to purchase it, and couldn't go without the vehicle, I ended up having to drop it off with my mechanic = payment plan. He was willing to take payment next Friday, which is all I was waiting for, but now it's like twice the cost.

But, what'da do? It's life I guess. :crying:

On the up-side, at least you're back to driving and burning up that $4/gallon fuel instead of walking to work.

Mine went at high 140K, I think. Two wheel drive changeout is so much easier!

We're lucky, not even quite yet $3 per gallon. It's right at $2.79/gallon here now.

I use to pay $3.05 - $3.10/gallon as the norm when I lived in Las Vegas; so for now, anyway, it's still mediocre ok for me.

I do wish that I could walk to work sometimes though, specially when it's nice out.
