please help...guage prob + sum others

hey,
ok i have a 99 intrigue gx, i just changedthe fuel filter at 72000... I hooked everything back up connected the battery up... started it up and all was fine, until I noticed the speedometer was pinned out beyond 140??? which really confuses me becuz it worked fine before and i didnt touch anything electrical besides the battery...when i drive it, it just stays pinned out...any thoughts?? or experiences??

also when i drive it...
i have an idling problem, where when im at a stop the needle of the RPM guage will fall to 3/4x1000 which is usual but then it may drop to 500rpms or just die!! any ideas???

one other thing to add to the idle problem...it also stuaters a little when i start to accelerate and shifts a little hard as well...any ideas

have you checked the fuel-pressure? perhaps the regulator is going a tad haywire causing it to not run properly.

well i disconnected my battery for a good 15min and hooked it back up and the guage reset itself!!
so thats fixed!

although i seem to keep having issues w/ the trig...
almost seems like the tranny is going to go, are there any ways i can prevent it from going on me...it shifts hard...and when i left work today i pressed the gas pedal and it hardly did anything...seemed to slip or something, and did this until the engine warmed up a little bit more...but still shifts hard, unless i let off the gas when im at the shift points...
got any ideas or knowledge on this issue...?
