Hello fellas,

just got quote for extended car insurance or warranty, "bumper to bumper" from http://www.smartautowarranty.com and am curious is it wort to purchase extended warranty for my Chevy Venture 2002 with 86800 miles??
Did you have any experience with those guys and how good or bad are they?? Will they cover or not most parts what can break down, like ac, engine, intake manifold, brakes, etc...

They quoted me $1700 for 2y or 24000 miles, whichever comes first.

Is this wort buying or not??

Any reference to those guys or anybody simillar who provide extended warranty is more than welcome and would be appreciated.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

I bought a 99 venture and I was able to get the GM Major gaurd extended warranty. I bought the van with 72000, and it covered it for 24000 miles or 2 yrs and cost 1500. I had a 50.00 deductible. I would strogly recommend it especially with the higher miles. I ended up using it 5 or 6 times and it paid for itself. I fixed the power steering pump, window motor, gas line, some other things. I bought it right after the tranny had been replaced under the original warranty along with the manifold gasket. It all depends on the mileage and when stuff breaks. I lucked out. The warranty didn't cover regular maint ie. oil changes hoses air cond. recharge. also didn't cover paint or rust. It was nice to go to goodwrench see the 800.00 or 1000.00 bill and only pay 50.00. I hope to be some help

highly recomend getting it

I bought a '99 Venture and got a coverage plan very similar threw our bank

its paid for a some internal transmission sensor, a/c work (though the dealer messed the a/c all up) and replaced the tie rods (made the van much better in handling)

READ THE FINE PRINT!!!!

we had a similar warranty when we owned a Plymouth Voyager. The tranny went out. I filed a claim. the price of the rebuild was almost $1500. the price of throwing in a USED tranny was $800. This wonderful warranty would only cover upto $800 - so I used the $800 towards the rebuild, and i had to pay the difference out of my pocket for the rebuild.

the rebuild had a warranty from the place doing the work for 1 year. The used tranny had like a 30 day warranty. I had no choice but to go for the more exspensive choice.

Wouldn't your extended warranty cover the $800 used tranny or was the warranty up?
