ok....

I am going to explain this as best as I can. There is a part on the engine on the right side as you face it up above near the windshield. It seems to be part of the air system. I say this because it is a big hole...it looks like a big air valve goes in their. but there is nothing there. If I could find a pic of my engine I could point it out. any ideas.

I have a 97 also but unless I go look at mine I can't comprehend what you are referring to.

Perhaps the EGR valve? Are there any lines attached to the hole or anything else you can trace to see where it goes?
