fuel pump?????

ok so i go in my car go to start it,...no humming..hmmm fuel pump..possibly.
so didnbt put new one in, didnt do anything a few days later it starts and i have the humming from the fuel pump again what the hell is that about? please help me,

Are you trying to say that sometimes the fuel pump turns on and sometimes it doesnt? So sometimes your car starts and other times it doesnt?
