97 Trans Sport, Different Wiper Problem..

I have read through a lot of posts on here about the wiper problems experienced but i have not seen one that is similar to mine.
The problem i have is not every time, but every few times, i will rotate the wiper switch to mist to wipe the windshield once and the passenger side wiper blade travels to far and goes off the edge of the windshield. It will also do it sometimes when you first flip the wipers on when turning it towards the intermittent setting. But then once the wipers are set on an intermittent setting it never happens again until turning the wipers off and letting them park and then turning back on. It's always that first swipe after turning them on or selecting mist, or using the washer fluid, after that first pass they will continue to operate normally. And this overrun doesn't happen every time you turn them on either!
Other than that the wipers have not given me any problems, i haven't experienced the other problems mentioned with the circuit board having cracked solder joints.
Any suggestions?? I asked a local shop and a dealer and didn't get anything more than the usual replace this or that answer. I have a feeling it might be an adjustment or something easier than replacing the whole assembly and possibly someone else on here has experienced it.
Thanks in advance!!

Wow... Nobody has experience this over-run problem??

When wipers are off is the arm down as far as it will go? Has the arm been removed and possibly put back on a notch or two counterclockwise?

I thought about that, but they do park all the way down and since the passenger side is the bottom when they are parked i would be having troubles with that too if it was that far off.
And if it was off a notch or two i suspect then i would be seeing this happen whenever the wiper is running, not just occassionally.
Come to think of it, it was raining one day last week and it never did it. But then i ran the washer fluid a bit to take the dust off here the other day and the first swipe went to far on the passenger side and it went off the windshield at the top end again.
When it does do it, it only does it the first time the wipers cycle when you turn them on, or the first time you use the mist to run them once.
I'm stumped! I thought about moving the wiper arm down a notch or two but then it would hit the stop before fulling parking when shutting them off. I took it to my local mechanic and produced the problem when i turned the wipers on, but then everytime after that it didn't do it. So something is intermittent. Could the over-run be caused by a problem with the circuit board? I see all the posts about the wipers not working, or not parking, etc, due to bad solder joints on the circuit board. But i can't see how that would cause the passenger side to go to far now and then. Maybe an intermittent mechanical problem instead. I looked everything over underhood, all nice and clean and well lubricated, so i don't honestly know where to go next.
I changed the passenger side wiper blade from a 24 to a 22 to keep the breakage from happening. Put a 24 on there and the second or third time it will break the top end of the wiper due to the force of being pulled back over the lip at the edge of the windshield. The 22 still goes over the edge but not as far and doesn't get broken. Maybe i should put a 20 on there and call it good.. LOL
