I have a 2003 SVT... i have done some mod already...want to get jackson racing super chargers..when warrenty ends(lol)..ne way i was wondering if getting a after market exhaust would be worth it, or if the stock one is high flow enough. The svt site doesn't really say ne thing about type of exhaust it is... thanx for your input.

Well, I have a regular zx3 and it had two mufflers one under the bumper and one under the mid section of the car. I took both of them off and put a borla muffler in the mid section had the guy run new pipe to the bumper and put a 2" I think chrome tip on it. I really felt the difference because what I put on it is less restrictive and it has a nice tone not rice and the tip isn't big. But I don't know if the svt has the same exhaust system the zx3 comes with.
Hope this helps,Jan

i would change it cause the fact that it came from the factory of course its going to have some sort of restriction (law requirments). hope this helps

the svt exhaust system is not nearly as restrictive as the zx3's. this is mainly due to the fact that the zx3 has a close coupled cat whereas the svt has a full long tube header. that being said, an exhaust system on either car isnt going to add a significant amount of power unless the car is running a forced induction setup or otherwise extensively modified. personally, ive never heard an svt with an aftermarket system but the zx3 sounds cool with one (love the burbly sound during deceleration).

Just a thought, I had an '01 ZX3, my friend had an '02. She paid something like 3 or 4 hundred for a Borla Exhaust system. I paid 75 dollars to get my resonator and muffler pulled, a glass-pack installed, and a 3" chrome tip welded on. I got more compliments on the sound of my exhaust than she did. May have been driver error, but her car with the borla system, underdrive pulleys, and crank gears was slower than mine with high flow intake, glass-pack exhaust, and about 200 lbs. of audio equipment!!

and al that shit did NOTHING to help your cars flow...its still got a lot of stock 1 7/8 in pipeing while hers is breathing threw 2.25 or 2.5in pipe.
Esentially you did the equiv to putting a loud ass high flow muffler on the car......would have given the same results.
