i own a 2005 Honda CR-V. its an AWD automatic. i wanted to know how to do burnouts in such cars..
i dont wanna hold the handbrake cuz its an awd.. and that wud probably screw up the brakes...
do i just rev in Neutral and then shift to Drive..
or is there sumtin im supposed to do by pressing the brake and gas at the same time.. or sum wierd combo.
pls advise....

I would advise you dont do a burnout. Especially on an AWD car. That will just be very hard on your tranny. Honestly, I would doubt you even could do a burn out on a CR-V even if you wanted to. And for the love of God dont do a neutral drop into drive unless you plan on ruining your transmission within the next week.

Agreed... Just don't do it.

well.. maybe not like a good burnout with tires burning and smoke and all.. but maybe just some skid marks on the road would be cool..
do u still think its possible?

if u really want tire marks soo bad, just spray wet blk spray paint on the tires, and u will leave marks.....otherwise the only way to leave rubber is maybe a dough nut if ur cr-v doesn't flip

The people with VR4 3000gt's have 320hp and a manual tranny and are lucky to get a squeak out of their AWD tranny. An auto CR-V just isnt going to cut it.

You could try as much as you want but you'll never get that what 93hp to the wheels power to turn over the tires. I mean, if you can't do it in the rain you won't be able to do it on dry pavement.
The only vehicle I witnessed the ability to really scorch all 4 tires at the same time was the GMC Cylcone and Typhoons. Use to see a lot of those on the track but since they stopped making them back in the early 90's, collectors are almost all that own them today.
This could be interesting thought! http://www.motortrend.com/future/concept_cars/112_0203_chevrolet_trailblazer_turbo/

If I can find the vid, I'll post it, but there was a video of a yellow 1st gen VR4 doing doughnuts in a parking lot... yes it was AWD and AWS

^^^ I've already seen it on the 3S forum I believe. It can be done, just not with your average car.

A stock '93 GMC Cyclone will do it with ease. Trust me, one of my friends had one and he'd roast the tires all the time. The engine in those were the same as the Buick Grand Nationals and the '89 Turbo Trans Ams.

you might be able to pull it off if you have the smallest baldest and crappiest tires in the world. then you might be able to break'em loose for a sec.
my friends STi needs to do a 6500-7000 rpm launch to break his tires loose and he has over 300lb ft of tq. ( his is modded )
your little CRV isn't gonna have enough hp or tq to do anything. also your seriously gonna break something if you do manage to put that much of a shock load on your drive train. you would either snap your axles or break something in tranny. that tranny isn't designed for power or performance. its designed to keep people on the road in slippery conditions ( safety ).

^^^(VWracer) Burnouts arent good for cars in general. You could actually do one in a blazer because you can turn it to RWD instead of 4WD. It just not going to pan out on an AWD car. When were talking about burnouts were talking about power braking and doing a stand still burn out right? Meh, screw it. JUST DONT DO BURNOUTS.

I actually destroyed my rear transfer clutches doing stupid shit like that.
My Subaru is now FWD and has been for a couple years now.
'Course now I can do burnouts, but AWD is a huge price to pay.

I have lots of first hand experience destroying my car during my noob stage, then almost completely rebuilding it and reaching a kind of zen pinnacle of SVX ownership.

thanks for your help..
one more thing.. my friends and i are obviously real desperate to do a couple of nice burnouts..
my friend has a 2005 Toyota Innova (probably never heard of it) - manual and RWD - http://www.toyotabharat.com/showroom/innova/index.html
often times we can get the tires spinning for about 2 seconds.. maybe like 5-7 ft skid marks even with its diesel engine a mere 102 hp.
we usually just rev the car up and then release the clutch in 1st.
are there any other ways of doing it?
a few were saying.. get the car rolling in neutral, slam brakes and rev at the same time. when stopped, engage into 1st gear and release the clutch.
basically the objective is to get the weight of the car off of the back wheels and then do a burnout. more chances of spinning the tires.
what do you guys recommend?

like we all said burnouts arent smart
but when i break them lose on my sonoma i always put a little presure on the breaks that way it has a little hold on the front tires
if you have enough power to get them spining with a LITTLE preasure on the breaks let of and keep them spining
i assume the car your talking about has power breaks
but dont come crying when you mess something up .............oh and that innova is ugly as fuck i think they should call it the innoma
